Jointly owned by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Casino Rama Resort described Texas native Morris as ‘one of the leading voices in music today’ courtesy of her ‘incredible vocal stylings and songwriting chops’ as well as her ‘sheer talent and an undeniable presence’.
The southern Ontario venue revealed this is to be followed on December 14 by a visit from the Great Canadian Road Trip, which is a tour featuring performances from local country music legends Doc Walker, Jason McCoy and Michelle Wright.
Casino Rama Resort labelled Juno Award-winning Doc Walker, which is comprised of Murray Pulver, Chris Thorsteinson and Dave Wasyliw, as ‘one of the most recognized Canadian country acts over the past two decades’ via of songs including ‘’Rocket Girl’ and ‘Beautiful Life’.
It went on to assert Simcoe County resident McCoy has been a staple of the Canadian music scene since the early 1990s, while describing 2011 Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Wright as well-known for tunes like ‘’Safe in the Arms of Love’ and ‘Small Town’.
Rounding off this line-up of must-see musical events is a January 11 performance from American rock band The Black Crows, who are currently promoting their tenth studio album, Happiness Bastards.
“The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid, penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped-back, bare-boned rock and roll,” read a statement from Casino Rama Resort.
“No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at its very best; gritty, loud, and in your face.” adds Casino Rama Resort statement.
Casino Rama Resort, which moreover has a 192,000 sq ft casino, explained that Atlanta-based The Black Crows were formed by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson in 1984 and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums featuring hit singles such as ‘Remedy’, ‘She Talks to Angels’ and ‘Soul Singing’.
These shows have been added to a schedule of upcoming events at Casino Rama Resort that already encompassed performances by Scottish hard rock band Nazareth on August 22, American four-piece grunge act Everclear on September 7 and Australian adult contemporary sextet Air Supply on October 18.
For those in the mood for non-musical forms of entertainment, the venue is to furthermore host a set by well-known South African comedian Trevor Noah on August 24 in addition to the October 25 stop of the Masters of Illusion modern magic extravaganza.
