BetMGM on Tuesday announced an agreement with Sony Pictures Television and International Game Technology (IGT) to launch Wheel of Fortune Casino, the first full brand-led online casino in North America where patrons can play with real cash.
Wheel of Fortune Casino will first launch in the New Jersey online casino market and will house America’s Game-branded slot titles produced by IGT, along with other themed games and features, according to a news release.
An iconic American game show that made its debut in 1975, Wheel of Fortune is entering its 40th season. More than 250 versions of Wheel of Fortune slot games have been introduced over the last 25 years and this online launch of Wheel of Fortune Casino will represent the latest gaming extension for the brand, the release said.
Wheel of Fortune slot machines have been a mainstay on casino floors since IGT first licensed them in 1997.
“Wheel of Fortune is watched nightly by millions of people and BetMGM is honored to partner with Sony Pictures Television and IGT to bring this online casino experience to life,” BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said in the release. “Once live, Wheel of Fortune Casino will offer players the excitement of their favorite gameshow and real money wagering in the palm of their hand.”
New Jersey is one of half a dozen states, along with Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan and Connecticut, that offers real money iGaming. Those six states, along with Nevada, have legalized online poker, as well.
“We’re excited to celebrate the evolution of the IGT Wheel of Fortune slot brand with BetMGM and Sony Pictures Television through the launch of Wheel of Fortune Casino," IGT CEO of Digital and Betting Enrico Drago said in the release. "The Wheel of Fortune brand has been synonymous with slot gaming for more than 25 years, and this unprecedented brand-led online casino, driven by BetMGM’s compelling platform and promotional capabilities, is well-positioned to engage and entertain new and long-time players.
“As part of our ongoing PlayDigital strategy, we will continue to look for new and exciting ways to leverage our third party and home-grown brands with our operating partners.”
BetMGM added in its press release that a key focus is “responsible gaming education” through GameSense, an industry-leading program developed and licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corp. Through GameSense, BetMGM customers can directly access responsible gaming tools.
In March, BetMGM and White Hat Gaming announced an arrangement to create White Hat Studios, which began to give BetMGM players access to some of the most popular online slots games, such as Deal or No Deal, another popular American game show, hosted by Howie Mandel.
White Hat Studios’ array of slot games and random number generator (RNG) table games are available to BetMGM customers in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
