Congratulations to Ray Schneider from Grosvenor Barracuda for being crowned Dealer of the Year for the second time! He secured his title at the National Dealer Skills Championship held at the Reading South venue, winning a grand prize of £3,000.
Adam Fenyves from Grosvenor Birmingham Hill Street was a commendable runner-up. Both will proudly represent Grosvenor casinos at the UK final in London on Wednesday, January 15.

The Siletz Tribal Council proudly announced Samantha McDonald as the new General Manager of Chinook Winds Casino Resort. With over 30 years of gaming experience, McDonald emphasizes a team-oriented culture and aims to create a welcoming atmosphere.
Her impressive background includes leadership roles across various gaming establishments, and she is eager to build on Chinook Winds’ strong community commitment.
“We don’t have employees and customers; we have team members and guests,” McDonald said.
The European Casino Association (ECA) celebrates the commencement of the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union, focusing on combating organized crime within the gambling sector.
The ECA encourages collaboration with policymakers to tackle illegal gambling operators that threaten safety across the EU. They stated, “Together, we strive for a secure, fair, and sustainable gaming future.”
Doug Vogelei has been appointed Vice President of Gaming at Mohegan Sun, where he will oversee strategic vision and enhance overall gaming operations. His vast experience in the gaming sector makes him a valuable asset to the leadership team.

Ian Fielding, formerly the studio head at Super Evil Megacorp, has been appointed CEO. He succeeds Kristian Segerstrale, who transitions to executive chair. Fielding’s vision includes elevating the studio’s profile to a top-tier independent establishment while focusing on co-op and crossplay gaming experiences.
“I’m excited for the future as we implement our long-term plans,” Fielding stated.
In a meaningful ESG initiative, the Malta Gaming Authority planted 25 trees at Għar Dalam as a commitment to environmental sustainability.
New team members participated in the planting and learned about conservation efforts, showcasing a strong commitment to a greener future.
The gambling community mourns the loss of Nico Jansen, founder and CEO of Bet IT Best, who recently passed away. Tributes have poured in, highlighting his kindness, humour, and dedication to the industry. A fundraiser has been established to support his family.

“It seems like just yesterday that we were laughing on stage together at iGaming Next in NYC, and then off stage everywhere else,” he wrote on LinkedIn.
Clarion Gaming global portfolio director Richard Linn said, “Rarely have I seen a man with the ability to light up a room like Nico. A true gent who I will miss. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends."
SVP of sales at Pay.com, Chris Smart, said: “Heartbroken, we have lost one of the best, funniest and kindest guys you will ever meet. Nico, you will be missed by so many my friend.”
Paul Marcantonio, general manager of Paytently, added: “Nico was, without a doubt, the most genuine person you could meet – kind, thoughtful, caring and, of course, brutally honest, which made him truly unique.
“You always knew exactly where you stood with Nico; if he valued you as a friend, you could consider yourself extremely privileged.”
The International Association of Gaming Regulators is calling for speakers for their 2025 conference in Toronto, focusing on resilient regulation and innovative solutions in gaming.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe.
