Casino Staff Spooktacular Casino Decorations

We have been running a special competition asking for your photos of Halloween at a casino.

Although the UK was not part of the competition, the folks at Genting Casinos led the way here with staff dressing up and decorating their casino destination in Bolton. They even made spooky signs to the loos.

There were decorations around the club and their very own pumpkin carving competition being judged by customers.

Gambling Commission Celebrates Success of Rome Visit

The Gambling Commission representatives arrived back in the UK safely from their trip to Rome and the International Gaming Regulators Conference 2024.

Tackling the illegal market is one of their top priorities as they continue their mission to identify, intercept, and dismantle illegal operators that target British consumers. Posting on LinkedIn, the GC stated they were privileged to share the work they are doing with attendees at the IAGR conference.

The conference hosted the newly formed illegal gambling workshop group—an initiative set up to bring regulators from all continents together to tackle a growing global issue.

The GC Director of Enforcement, John Pierce, and illegal markets team manager, Elizabeth Potter, explained the scale of the challenge that the illegal market poses and what procedures are used to prevent and take down illegal operations that put British consumers at risk.

The GC stated: “As part of our commitment to collaborate further with our international partners, we also held meetings with regulators from around the world, agreeing on action that we can take across our respective jurisdictions.

Together we’re committed to protecting consumers at home and abroad, with the aim of making gambling safer, fairer, and crime-free.”

Conference Season in Full Swing

It seems that you cannot switch on your computer these days without an alert telling you of some conference or another being held in some part of the world. For many, this provides a great opportunity to network and promote the work they do and the business opportunities they provide.

It would be difficult to cover all of them in our modest news roundup. We do, however, welcome any of your news and pictures from conferences.

London is the venue for the next event, which is the Global Table Games & Game Protection Conference at the Hippodrome casino on November 18th to 20th. A very well-travelled man appearing at conferences is the Dapper Executive Chairman at the Hippodrome, Simon Thomas.

Simon returned from America recently and said it was great to bump into Richard Marcus in Vegas at G2E. Richard is also excited about his table game and game protection conference next month at the Hippodrome

They also collected donations for Europa Donna Malta, a foundation dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients and advocating for better care and awareness.

The MGA said: “Together, we’re helping make a difference by spreading crucial information and providing support to those affected.”

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
