MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have unveiled plans to roll out their responsible gaming initiative, GameSense, at nine National Football League (NFL) stadiums. This collaborative effort is set to promote responsible gambling during the upcoming football season, making MGM Resorts and BetMGM early proponents of responsible gaming advocacy in NFL venues.
GameSense will be prominently featured at the following stadiums:
Rhea Loney, Chief Compliance Officer at BetMGM, expressed the significance of this initiative, stating, "This is an extraordinary moment as we work with our team partners to raise awareness about responsible gaming. Throughout the season, GameSense will play a pivotal role in reminding football fans who bet to do so responsibly."
Stephen Martino, SVP Chief Compliance Officer at MGM Resorts, emphasized the evolving landscape of the gaming industry and the importance of collaboration, saying, "The landscape of the gaming industry has evolved dramatically in recent years with the broad legalization of online gambling and sports betting.
"Collaboration among operators and stakeholders is essential to ensure that responsible gaming remains a top priority. These efforts are vital to giving guests, customers, employees, and companies the tools and information needed for a safe and enjoyable experience."
In addition to the GameSense promotion, MGM Resorts and BetMGM have committed to dedicating over $1 million annually to support various responsible gaming and problem gambling initiatives. This financial commitment will encompass research, advocacy, prevention, marketing efforts, and organizational support.
Casey Clark, Senior Vice President of the American Gaming Association, praised MGM Resorts and BetMGM's commitment, stating, "The AGA is proud to work alongside leaders like MGM Resorts and BetMGM to advance responsible gaming every day. Their continued investment to elevate responsibility exemplifies the industry's commitments and the spirit of Responsible Gaming Education Month."
GameSense, an industry-leading responsible gaming program initially developed and licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation in 2017, emphasizes positive, transparent, and proactive conversations with guests and customers about responsible gambling. GameSense messages and responsible gaming tips are now accessible to guests through television screens in MGM Resorts' hotel rooms across the United States.
MGM Resorts' casino floors also feature slot machines displaying GameSense messaging with QR codes, offering access to responsible gaming information and educational materials
BetMGM's platforms, including desktop and mobile, as well as sports betting kiosks, also integrate GameSense extensively, providing customers with consistent and supportive information. This integration enables players to set responsible gaming limits and dispels common gambling misconceptions.
This announcement coincides with MGM Resorts and BetMGM partnering with the American Gaming Association (AGA) to promote Responsible Gaming Education Month (RGEM 2023) in September. During RGEM 2023, both companies will focus on empowering guests and customers to play responsibly in legal and regulated markets, while also enhancing employee training, community collaboration, and research efforts in responsible gaming.
MGM Resorts and BetMGM will continue their partnership with the AGA's "Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly.™" public service campaign, educating bettors on responsible sports wagering, both new and experienced.
