When MGM Resorts announced in February it was revamping its loyalty program as MGM Rewards, the company also strongly hinted that a new credit card tied to the loyalty program was in the works.
On March 16, that credit card debuted with a trove of perks available to MGM’s casino customers, its online gamblers on BetMGM and even to those who don’t gamble at all.
Now through April 7, newly approved MGM Rewards Mastercard cardmembers can earn $250, which will be awarded as 25,000 bonus points in the loyalty program, to use toward accommodations, dining and entertainment, after they spend $5,000 on the credit card within the first six billing cycles.
Those interested in the limited-time offer can apply for the credit card.
There’s no annual fee for the MGM Rewards credit card.
In addition, even those who don’t put $5,000 on the card in the required time limit to get the big bonus points will still receive benefits. Perhaps the best one is automatic status at the Pearl level of the loyalty club (there are five tier levels in the program with Pearl being the second rung up).
One of the current perks of Pearl status is free self-parking at MGM Resorts’ 20-plus premier destinations across the country. That benefit alone can save credit card holders as much as $18 per daily visit to an MGM resort, depending on the property.
Other benefits for card members are:
MGM Rewards members can earn both “Rewards Points” and “Tier Credits.” The points work as a currency for dining, hotel and purchases. Meanwhile, accruing credits advances a loyalty club member up the ladder of tiers.
For online players, either for sports wagers or BetMGM Casino, a new benefit for cardmembers includes earning points and tier credits on any deposits made using the MGM Rewards Mastercard in the BetMGM sports betting app.
Cardmembers earn three points and three tier credits per $1 spent at MGM Rewards destinations; two points and two tier credits per $1 spent on gas and supermarket purchases, and one point and one tier credit per $1 spent everywhere else.
BetMGM online games are available in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia. The BetMGM online sportsbook is available in more than a dozen states.

In addition to not having an annual fee, the MGM Rewards Mastercard comes with no foreign transaction fee and MGM Rewards points accumulated through spend on the card do not expire.
