Swedish Regulator Spelinspektionen Prohibits Online Operator Versus Odds for Licensing Violations

As 2025 begins, regulators worldwide are set to intensify their scrutiny of casino destinations, online gaming, and gambling operators.   

In line with this trend, the Swedish regulatory authority, Spelinspektionen, has swiftly taken action against the online operator Versus Odds, declaring it unlicensed and prohibiting its services to Swedish players.  

Unlicenced Gambling Platform was Available to Swedish Players  

The investigation by Spelinspektionen revealed that Versus Odds is linked to several online casinos, including Thor Casino and Wolfy Casino. Both sites were found to be accessible to players in Sweden yet lacked the necessary licenses.

Evidence supporting the prohibition included the presence of Swedish-language terms and conditions and a FAQ section on the gaming sites.   

Regulator Dedicated to Safeguarding Legal and Safe Swedish Market 

A spokesperson for Spelinspektionen stated, “The investigation did not reveal any restrictions preventing Swedish consumers from registering and creating an account on the website in question.” 

The Swedish Gambling Authority is the authority to ensure that the Swedish gambling market is legal, safe and reliable.

Spelinspektionen looks after consumers' interests which contributes to reducing the risks of the social harm that gambling can cause.
