The trend of companies expanding in 2025 is continuing as we reach the end of the first month of the year. In the latest shift, Novomatic has agreed to acquire the French casino group Vikings Casinos. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals.
This latest move by Novomatic signals their intent for international expansion and growth strategy in the French market, which is one of the largest gaming regions in Europe.
Based in Falaise, Vikings Casinos Group is one of the leading French casino chains, operating more than 10 live gaming casino destinations throughout France, including on the Côte d'Azur.
Executive Board Member Stefan Krenn said: “With the acquisition of Vikings Casinos, we are consistently pursuing our international growth strategy and strengthening our position as a leading provider in the European gaming market.
"With this step, we have successfully laid the foundation for further sustainable growth in France.”
Earlier this year Novomatic reached an agreement to sell its Austrian subsidiary, Admiral Austria, to the German betting provider Tipico.
2025 may well see further expansion within the company as new markets emerge. The CEO of Vikings Casinos, Luc Le Borgne, said, “The acquisition by Novomatic opens up new opportunities for growth and further development.
"We are confident that the integration into such an experienced and successful company as Novomatic will help us to further strengthen our position on the French market. This change will enable us to work even more efficiently and benefit from the resources and expertise of the new owner.”
Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
