The iGaming industry, which encompasses all forms of gambling and betting activities conducted via the internet, such as online casinos and sports betting, will be watching the recent developments at SOFTSWISS. The leading software supplier is about to launch their private bug bounty program aimed at boosting cybersecurity.
It is an unusual concept but offering hackers rewards for identifying vulnerabilities, along with the help of independent security researchers, is what SOFTSWISS is planning to provide for their clients. There is a financial incentive of up to 3,500 euros depending on how complex and severe the discovered vulnerabilities are.
The company has announced that the offer is by invitation only to white hat hackers to ensure that only significant cases that meet specific requirements are reported and they are encouraged to pay close attention to their terms and requirements, resulting in higher-quality reports.
Evgeny Zaretskov, Group Chief Information Security Officer at SOFTSWISS told Casinos.com: “Our Bug Bounty Program is a proactive step to help prevent issues for operators. So far, hackers haven’t reported anything major that meets the program’s criteria, mostly because our security team has been quick to fix vulnerabilities.
"However, incidents observed in the broader market have motivated us to bolster our defences further by leveraging the power of crowdsourcing through this program.”
The program has started with two products: the SOFTSWISS Casino Platform and the SOFTSWISS Sportsbook. It’s conducted in a dedicated test environment, which operates independently of live casino systems, ensuring no disruption to player experience or platform performance.
Evgeny Zaretskov said: “We care about the security of our clients and their players, which is why it is important for us not only to pay close attention to protecting the products we develop but also to constantly recheck our applications with the help of skilled external experts and enthusiasts. In collaboration with the expert community, we can ensure a reliable level of data protection and uninterrupted operations for all our clients.”
Zarettskov went on to say: “SOFTSWISS is proud to set a new standard for cybersecurity by leveraging crowdsourced expertise. In this ever-evolving landscape, even a minor bug can lead to significant losses for operators. The bug bounty program is an extra measure to protect our existing and future clients."
Deputy CSO Artyom Buchkov said: "Cybersecurity is an ongoing battle. No company can discover all vulnerabilities on its own. This program enables talented hackers to legally hack an online casino, helping us anticipate and defend against potential threats. It strengthens our commitment to providing the most secure software and platforms in the iGaming industry."
The company has more products in the pipeline, all aiming to maintain the highest standards of security across all platforms. They will also be on stand B-160 at the SBC Summit Lisbon from September 24 to 26.
Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
