The White Lotus has been a huge success since it first burst onto our screens in 2021, and a third season is set to get underway in February.
The HBO show follows the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain. While there are deaths introduced at the start of the series for viewers to spend the season trying to work out who the culprit or culprits were, the tragicomedy isn't a traditional whodunit.
This is full credit to the incredible casting in the show, because the viewers' main focus is on the surviving guests and their complex lives and stories.
Series three is set in Thailand and will feature a largely all-new cast, including Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Aimee Lou Wood.
Jennifer Coolidge appeared in both series one and two as the quirky character Tanya McQuoid, who sadly met her maker at the end of the second season—but could she make a shock return in series three?
Odds On Who Could Make A Surprise Cameo In The White Lotus Series 3 | |
---|---|
Jennifer Coolidge | 5/4 |
Sydney Sweeney | 13/8 |
Murray Bartlett | 2/1 |
Lukas Gage | 5/2 |
Leo Woodall | 3/1 |
Theo James | 4/1 |
Haley Lu Richardson | 5/1 |
Jolene Purdy | 6/1 |
Jon Gries | 8/1 |
Will Sharpe | 10/1 |
Natasha Rothwell, who played hotel spa manager Belinda Lindsey in series one, is reprising her role for the upcoming third season.
Belinda first bonded with Tanya by giving her a ceremonial chant, rather than a massage, and their relationship grew stronger as the season progressed. Eventually, Tanya offered to invest in Belinda's dream of creating a wellness business, but, sadly for Belinda, the funding never materialised.
Despite this, viewers will soon find out what Belinda has been up to when she returns in series three—so could Tanya also be back from beyond the grave?
It would be very White Lotus if Coolidge made a surprise cameo as some sort of ghost or a figment of Belinda's imagination to reprise her role, and it's 5/4 to happen.
Other series one stars who could feature in shock cameos include Sydney Sweeney (13/8)—whose career has gone from strength to strength since she appeared in 2021's first season—and Murray Bartlett (2/1).

Both Coolidge and Bartlett were recognised for their series one work, winning Outstanding Supporting Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actor accolades, respectively, at the 2022 Primetime Emmys.
Bartlett portrayed resort manager Armond, one of the most memorable and chaotic characters in the show, and it would be a genius move to bring him back into The White Lotus fold.
A third season must have been a no-brainer for HBO following the success of series one and two.
Odds On The White Lotus Series 4 | |
---|---|
Yes | 1/3 |
No | 3/1 |
Season one received 20 nominations across the Primetime 2022 Emmy Awards and the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, winning 10 accolades in total, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and the individual prizes for Coolidge and Bartlett.
Series two received 23 nods across the Emmy and Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and Jennifer once again took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
It's not yet known what will happen awards-wise after season three has aired, but talk has already started about a potential fourth series getting off the ground.
In November, HBO and Max boss Casey Bloys revealed show creator Mike White already has ideas for a fourth series.
Bloys told reporters: "Mike, obviously—if he wants to move forward and do the four seasons—he will do the fourth season."
It's just 1/3 that a White Lotus season four materialises, but the big question is: where will it be set?
Odds On Where The White Lotus Series 4 Will Be Set | |
---|---|
Mauritius | 13/8 |
Dubai | 2/1 |
Seychelles | 5/2 |
Abu Dhabi | 3/1 |
Australia | 3/1 |
Marrakech | 7/2 |
Argentina | 4/1 |
Colombia | 9/2 |
Costa Rica | 5/1 |
Canada | 6/1 |
India | 7/1 |
Maldives | 8/1 |
Japan | 10/1 |
The first two were shot at Four Seasons resorts in Hawaii and Sicily, Italy, and the third series was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui in Thailand. It would make sense to continue the Four Seasons relationship but also to shoot in another area.
Africa, the Middle East or even Australia could be on White's wish list. East African country Mauritius is the early 13/8 favourite to be the home of White Lotus season four, while Seychelles is just 5/2 if bosses want to head to Africa next.

However, the Middle East could be a prime target, too. You can't go on TikTok or Instagram these days without seeing a celebrity capturing content in the likes of Dubai (2/1) or Abu Dhabi (3/1).
But it's also 3/1 for The White Lotus to go to Australia next, and 4/1 the show heads down the South American route and films in Argentina, or 9/2 chance Colombia, where the Four Seasons Buenos Aires or Bogota could get the nod.
If White opts for a ski theme next time out, then the Four Seasons resort in Whistler, Canada, could be picked. What's more, India (7/1)—and the Four Seasons in Mumbai—or Japan (10/1) could also be in contention.
If a fourth series does get the green light, then all eyes will be on future casting announcements.
Odds On Who Will Star In The White Lotus Series 4 | |
---|---|
Nicole Kidman | 6/4 |
Ana de Armas | 7/4 |
Jacob Elordi | 2/1 |
Demi Moore | 2/1 |
Hugh Jackman | 5/2 |
Cate Blanchett | 3/1 |
Zendaya | 7/2 |
Jenna Ortega | 4/1 |
Lashana Lynch | 9/2 |
Barry Keoghan | 5/1 |
Glen Powell | 11/2 |
Reese Witherspoon | 6/1 |
Amanda Seyfried | 7/1 |
Jennifer Connelly | 8/1 |
Naomi Watts | 10/1 |
The first two have featured some strong female characters in their 50s and 60s, in the shape of Coolidge's alter ego, Tanya, and Connie Britton's series one character, Nicole Mossbacher.
If White Lotus bosses want more of the same, then hiring the likes of Nicole Kidman or Demi Moore would be top-drawer casting.
Kidman (6/4) was brilliant in White Lotus-style show The Perfect Couple last year, while Moore (2/1) has received lots of Oscars buzz of late for 2024 movie The Substance.
It may be a stretch to land Kidman or Moore, but The White Lotus has earned the right to aim big.
If the next series is set in Australia, then Cate Blanchett (3/1) would be perfect to portray a strong woman, while Hugh Jackman (5/2) could get the nod as her on-screen husband.
While they might be too busy shooting movies nowadays, Zendaya (7/2) or Jenna Ortega (4/1) would be fascinating as part of the younger cast, as would Saltburn star Jacob Elordi (2/1).
It's an exciting time to be a White Lotus viewer.
