I’m not one for romance and love when it comes to slot themes. But when a game comes out from the labs of Play’n GO, I have to pay attention. Looking to win my cold, aging heart over is the new release of Love is in the Fair. I’m hoping this game can bring about a joyful experience rather than be another slot that is full of sweet nothings.
My experience of Love is in the Fair will be detailed in this review, unedited and unbiased. I will cover the software performance, gameplay features, and the all-important programming. Is this a game that will catch your eye? Well, as with all slot reviews, Casinos.com provides its readers with a free-to-play Love is in the Fair demo. See for yourself how Love is in the Fair performs. If you like the game, Casinos.com can guide you to the new slot sites that support games made by Play’n GO software.
The design of the game is pretty good, to be fair (pun fully intended). We have a boardwalk with a diner and some classic cars. The slot layout is a classic 3x5 grid, which is on some photobooth stall thing. Above the 5 reels is a multiplier counter that includes x2, x3, x5, x10, and x100.
Throughout the game, you have this 50s-type swing music with horrid organ harmonies. Now and again, the two characters of this game speak, saying something wet, like how pleasant the weather is and when the fireworks start. It’s all too wholesome for me, but this is set in the 1950s, a far different time from sliding into a girl's DMs, praying they are a girl. You have to check bios these days to see what flags and pro-nouns appear.
To be fair, the industry isn’t exactly littered with romantic slots. While it’s not my thing, so far, the premise of the game and what it offers is a damn sight better than most slots for real money on the market right now.
When I saw the theme, my eyes rolled into the back of my head. Slumping forward and regaining my vision, I saw that this was made by Play’n GO, and faith was restored. Now, I admit, this game is pretty good. There are a lot of smart elements to this game, which again is something players should fully expect from the developer.
Love is in the Fair plays like a basic slot machine, but several features make this game eye-catching. Firstly, for those new to online slot machines, when you load the game, be sure to adjust the bet value to suit your budget. Treat the Love is in the Fair demo game as though you are playing with real money. The game defaults at $160, but you can adjust this cost from as little as $0.10 a spin to $100.
When you have set the value to the suitable limit, you can press the green spin button to begin play. You can alternatively opt to play in auto-mode with the orange button.
To win, you have to land 3 of the same symbols on any of the game’s 20 paylines. Symbols include the girl, the boy, the teddy, the ring, and then A, K, Q, J, and 10 in the form of sweets. The Love Cam represents the Wild symbol and can also play the role of multiplier as well. The bonus scatter symbols are represented by the romantic picture symbol (boy and girl cuddling).
By pressing on the orange information icon, you can open the paytable to learn more about the payline patterns, symbol values, and the rest of the in-play bonus features.
For me, the more features a game has, the better it is. It has got to be about opportunity and potential. The more features a game has, the more entertaining it becomes. With Love is in the Fair, we are graced with several bonus features.
The first of the main features that will help you to win is the Love Map. If you manage to collect 15 romantic pictures, then you will get to unlock the 100x multiplier. That’s a possible $10,000 payout right there.
Next, we have the free spins bonus round, which is triggered by landing 3+ of the romantic picture symbols. You can retrigger more free spins when you land 3 or more romantic picture symbols. When this happens, you will also increase the multiplier value. Now, during base play, romantic picture symbols can become stacked, and this can also trigger the free spins.
If you land 15 romantic picture symbols that are all stacked, you can trigger the Timeless Free Spins feature. This gives you 15 free bonus spins, and all the Wild symbols featured in the game come as x100 multipliers.

I set my price of bet to $2 per spin and set the autoplay to 50 spins. The result was an absolute disappointment. Nothing hit in terms of a feature and no bonus round. I was down from what I started on.
I played $2 per spin again and another 50 spins, and this time, I muted the game as the two characters didn’t shut up. It was an abject failure once again, but hey, that’s how it goes sometimes. One thing that wasn’t mentioned in the game’s paytable or rules did happen during my experience, and that involved the multiplier counter. During one spin, the reels kept rotating, and the multiplier counter began to power up. It landed on x10, and then the reels stopped. No win landed, so that was unlucky. But, yeah, up till then, I wasn’t away that happened.
Love is in the Fair by Play’n GO comes with an unsurprisingly high payout potential. The max win is 10,000 times your bet. So, if you spin at $100, you could land $1,000,000! This explains why the game comes with a high volatility setting. As for the RTP, this comes in at a score of 96.20%. What does all this mean? Well, for players with a budget, this game might become too costly to play in the long run. High volatility slots are notoriously difficult to find success in. Their appeal, however, comes from the fact that such games can pay out higher values than low and medium volatility games.
Is it the best game Play’n GO has released in the last 5 years? No. Would I play the game for real money? Possibly. What’s great about the game? The fact that there are in-play features that help to enhance win capability and entertainment. What sucks about the game? The features stop too short. The map is a great idea, but it wasn’t utilized in any great way. For example, at each stage reached on the map, the gaming background should have at least changed.
Whilst I have not played many romantic-themed slots, these are some recommended games that I do know of that come with the same weight of quality. Doctor Love by NextGen, the Love Joker slot by Microgaming, and lastly, another romantic bomb by Microgaming, the official PLAYBOY Fortunes Hyperspins slot.
