Beyond the gaming floors of the glitzy casinos in Las Vegas, the concert stages are also a fertile battleground. The glimmer of spring is on the horizon, but the booking agents at the major Las Vegas casinos are actively looking to fill their venues for the fall. Two of the most prominent in “The Meadows” are setting their schedules into the fall, with one megastar booked for its stage and another looking to add another huge name to grace its stage.

From ‘Idol’ to Superstar

The Colosseum at Caesars Palace will feature three-time Grammy winner and beloved megastar Kelly Clarkson on the Las Vegas stage for a long-term residency. This will be Clarkson’s third trip to Las Vegas after two stirring residencies at PH Live at Planet Hollywood in 2023 and 2024. “Kelly Clarkson: The Studio Sessions” will feature eighteen different dates for the inaugural champion of the reality show American Idol beginning in July.

“I’m so excited to be back in Vegas!” Clarkson said upon the announcement of the new residency. “We’re bringing the studio to the stage this time with “Studio Sessions!” See y’all there!”

“The Studio Sessions” will start with a star-spangled opening night on July 4 (Independence Day) in the cavernous arena that was originally built for Celine Dion to perform in, The Colosseum. A roster of 18 dates will make up Clarkson’s residency, with a predominance of those dates in July and August while her eponymous television talk show is on hiatus:

July 4-5
July 11-12
July 18-19
July 25-26

August 1-2
August 8-9
August 15-16

November 7-8
November 14-15

It is easier to say what Clarkson has not done than to list the things the talented entertainer has achieved. Besides earning the first championship of Idol, Clarkson is one of the few victors that has parlayed that into a monster career, replete with three Grammys and eight Emmy Awards (for The Kelly Clarkson Show), and is rated by Billboard as the eleventh most successful female artist of the 21st century. Clarkson has also sold over 25 million albums and 40 million singles, has earned three Billboard Hot 100 #1 songs, and has hit the Billboard Top 40 eighteen times.

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster, with tickets for opening night still available for $99.

Is Harry Styles’ Next Direction Toward Las Vegas?

In a truly brief time, Sphere in Las Vegas has been able to captivate the normally jaded crowds by bringing in top-notch veterans from the rock world. The technological marvel has been stepping gingerly into the world of pop, with their first-ever residency from Nineties boy band sensation Backstreet Boys ready to take the stage. If reports are accurate, this fall will bring a second pop powerhouse to the Sphere stage, arguably one of the youngest performers ever to grace a Las Vegas stage.

The New York Post is reporting that Sphere is currently negotiating with former One Direction member and current solo superstar Harry Styles. The ongoing talks could bring Styles to the stage of Sphere for up to 35 dates, with a proposed start date (perhaps wishful thinking) of this fall. Currently, both sides are denying that there are ongoing negotiations, but the Post is making its speculation based on solid background evidence.

Styles previously hit the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City for a 15-date schedule, with every show sold out. The owner of the Garden is James Dolan who, just by chance, is the owner of Sphere. The Post speculates that, after seeing a deal to bring Beyoncé to Sphere go up in smoke, Dolan’s plans to bring in Styles would look to cover that base.

Previously at the Sphere, the stage has been the domain of classic rockers. U2, Dead & Company, and The Eagles have all had multiple-date runs on the Sphere’s state-of-the-art sound system and video display boards, and all three have set records for total box office revenues for the shows. With Backstreet Boys in the fold and the potential of Styles coming to town, Sphere looks to be expanding its repertoire of offerings.

Styles would be a solid addition for not only Sphere but also Las Vegas. At only 31, Styles would bring in a new, younger crowd to the city’s casinos, and he would be an artist who is at the apex of his performing prowess.

Styles, with his background with One Direction, has been able to take that into a very healthy solo career, where he has earned three Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards (the British equivalent of the Grammys), and topped the Billboard Hot 100 with two songs (“Watermelon Sugar,” and “As It Was”).
