Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are two of pop's darlings who have made sweet music together in the past before going their separate ways—but could they be about to reunite once again?
The pair, affectionately known as Shamila by super-fans, originally dated from 2019 to 2021 before briefly getting back together last year.
And now, Mendes and Cabello have sparked speculation that they could be set to reunite once again after they both attended the Copa America final at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium on July 15th.
The pair were spotted laughing and joking with one another while sitting next to each other as they watched Argentina inflict a narrow 1-0 defeat on Colombia after extra time, meaning they had even more time to chat.
Mendes and Cabello's friendship first came to light when they released the joint single I Know What You Did Last Summer in 2015, and speculation about a romance was fueled when they dropped a steamy music video for duet Señorita in 2019.
A year later, the coronavirus pandemic struck, but Mendes turned the situation into something positive by relocating to Miami to live with Cabello.
Speaking to Zane Lowe in 2020, he said, "I went to Miami, and I was living with Camila, her parents, and her sister."
"Something really beautiful for me came out of it, which was that you're not allowed to leave."
However, the pair did finally part ways in November 2021, writing on social media: "We've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends."
While Shamila super-fans were left sobbing into their Spotify playlists, the pair had a surprise in April 2023 when they rekindled at the Coachella music festival.
However, it wasn't to be for the long-term and the pair broke it off again in June, but could this be a third time lucky?
Mendes and Cabello certainly have plenty of history together, so they will have had lots to talk about at the Copa America final, no doubt.
In 2022, It'll be Okay hitmaker Mendes admitted he wasn't a huge fan of the single life, saying in an Instagram video: "Like, who do I call when I’m, like, in a panic attack? Who do I call when I’m, like, on the edge? I think that’s the reality that kind of hit me; it’s like, 'Oh, I’m on my own now.' Now I feel like, finally, I’m actually on my own, and I hate that. That’s my reality, you know?"

While the pair reunited at Coachella and then called in quits since his comments, Cabello admitted in March this year that her and Mendes' reunion at the spectacle was "a fun moment."
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast at the time, she said, "I will always care about him and love him; he's such a good person. I'm lucky because some people have exes who are awful, and he is not. He's a really kind, good person."
She also opened up about getting back with exes on the podcast, saying, "It’s crazy because I’m kind of impulsive in that way," in a nod to her and Mendes' Coachella reunion.
Will Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello reunite? Fans speculate amidst friendly meet-ups.
Cabello added, "If I feel it, I say it. I would rather say it and see what happens, then wake up the next day and find out that it’s been heavily documented. I opted for that route. It is what it is. It was a fun time; it was a fun moment."
Following their latest reunion, fan speculation has gone into overdrive, and it's just 4/6 that the pair will rekindle their romance again.
However, neither Mendes nor Cabello have spoken about their recent meet-up and didn't reference hanging out with one another on their socials, despite both documenting their Copa America final appearances separately on Instagram.
What's more, there are murmurings in the media that the pair are "just friends" rather than an item again.
A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Shawn and Camilla are not dating. They are just friends."
The insider also claimed Cabello and Mendes can go "months without speaking" but are "always friendly" if they happen to bump into one another "as if no time has passed" and admitted their Coachella reunion wasn't the right time to rekindle.
They added: "Shawn and Camila tried to make it work again romantically last summer but realised neither of them were ready to be in a relationship again. It wasn’t a bad breakup, so they have remained friendly."
While it's 6/4 that Mendes and Cabello won't reunite, it wouldn't be the first time a former showbiz couple has turned their friendship into a renewed relationship, should the pair hook up once again. Watch this space, Shamila supporters.
