Odds On Zara and Mike Tindall Moving To Australia Permanently

Zara and Mike Tindall have gained a reputation as some of the more down-to-earth and approachable members of the Royal Family—but could they soon be leaving British soil for Australia?

The couple, who tied the knot in 2011 and have three kids together, can often be found at racecourses across Britain and Ireland soaking up the atmosphere and engaging with fans and racegoers.

They kicked off 2025 doing just that on New Year's Day in the rain at Cheltenham Racecourse, where their three-year-old boy Lucas stole the show as he cheered the horses home.

Just days later, Zara and Mike swapped the grey Gloucestershire skies for Australia's sun-soaked Gold Coast for an annual trip.

Each year they attend a carnival event hosted by top Australian thoroughbred sales company Magic Millions, for whom they are brand ambassadors.

While Down Under, Zara—the daughter of Princess Anne—described Oz as a "home away from home."

And her positive words about the nation have sparked speculation about whether they may want to make a permanent switch to the Southern Hemisphere, and they are 8/13 to do so at some point.

Zara And Mike's 25-Year Anniversary

During their latest Australian jaunt, Zara admitted the couple "couldn't ask for a better way to start the year."

She told HELLO! magazine: "We have always loved Australia, and it is like a home away from home for us... although the Magic Millions carnival is busy... we couldn't ask for a better way to start the year.

"[We love] coming out of the cold winter and into the warm heat and the incredible water temperatures."

The pair have plenty of history Down Under, too. Zara and Mike met in a bar in Sydney in 2003 while she was embarking on a gap year and he was playing rugby union for England during the World Cup.

Her cousin, Prince Harry, introduced the pair. Mike was feeling deflated at the time after he had been dropped ahead of England's semi-final clash against France.

The star later admitted he barely said anything to Zara during their first meeting because he was so "down", but afterwards he took her for a "boozy lunch" - and the rest is history.

Not only that, but Mike regained his place in the starting line-up for the 2003 Rugby World Cup final against Australia, which England won.

If it was a fairy tale, it would be described as "too good to be true." And what better way for Zara and Mike to start a new chapter in their lives than by moving to Australia, the place where it all began?

While they would be sorely missed, especially at racecourses across the UK, it would be fitting if they made the move in 2028—25 years since they met Down Under.

It's 6/4 for the pair to do so, and 11/10 they make such a switch a year earlier.

Zara's Home Olympics

However, 2029 or later (15/8) could be a solid runner after Zara hinted she wouldn't make the move until she had finished competing.

The equestrian star won a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games as a member of the Great Britain Eventing Team, and it was presented to her by her own mother, Princess Anne.

Earlier this month, Zara opened up about wanting to compete in another Olympic Games, "I’d love to run another Olympics but I’m very lucky even if I don’t—I got to ride at my home Olympics."

The 2032 Games could be the perfect opportunity for the King's niece—and where is it taking place?

Brisbane, Australia, of course. The fairytale could continue. And if Zara and Mike have made the move by then, she might even be able to walk to the eventing course.

The Tindalls' Earlier Move?

However, Zara knows all about the risks involved in elite sport. She couldn't take part in Athens 2004 or Beijing 2008 due to injuries to her horse.

While it would be incredible if she does feature in one more Olympic Games, especially in another country so close to her heart, there is always a chance it may not happen.

If it was looking that way, then the royal couple may decide to up sticks and head to Australia sooner rather than later. It's 3/1 they do so in 2026, and they are 6/1 to move there by the end of the year.

While this might come too soon, Royals aren't exactly known for letting slip huge potential plans, so Zara and Mike's positive Australia chat may not simply be a coincidence.

And after all the Royal Family's reported health issues in the past couple of years, they may decide to seize the moment and just do it while they can.
