What to Do In Las Vegas In April? Say Bye to Carrie Underwood and Hello to Wrestling

April is a transition month in Las Vegas. It’s a month of beautiful weather before the heat starts to turn up, up and away!

According to the AccuWeather monthly outlook, high temperatures in April will reach the upper 80s. Enjoy it while you can! Highs will quickly accelerate in May, touching 100 F degrees or higher.

April weather in Las Vegas

Now that spring has sprung, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the great outdoors. That includes everything from hiking and golf to shopping. Of course, it’s also a great time in Las Vegas to grab a meal outside and enjoy the warm temperatures before it gets too hot outside.

While the event calendar is light, there are a couple of festivals and some resident comedians returning to Las Vegas.

The biggest event in Las Vegas this month is WrestleMania. The scripted sports entertainment event has seen a resurgence over the past couple of years. There are non-WrestleMania events all week at casinos from the Vegas Strip to downtown Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Music Residencies and Limited Engagements

Carrie Underwood’s lengthy residency at Resorts World Las Vegas comes to an end this month. Fans will have six chances to see Underwood before her engagement wraps up. The event calendar remains relatively slow compared to most months.

  • Carrie Underwood at Resorts World: April 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12
  • Smokey Robinson at The Venetian: April 2, 4, 5
  • Barry Manilow at Westgate: April 3, 4, 5
  • The Eagles at Sphere: April 4, 5, 11, 12
  • Lionel Richie at Wynn: April 9, 11, 12
  • The B-52s at The Venetian: April 11, 12, 16, 18, 19
  • Dead & Company at Sphere: April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26
  • Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons at Westgate: April 25, 26
  • George Benson at Wynn: April 25, 26

Look ahead: Sammy Hagar’s new limited engagement at Park MGM starts on May 2.

April Las Vegas Music Festivals

Unlike most cities, Las Vegas music festivals take place before and after the summer due to the extreme heat in the middle of the year.

Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend at the Orleans from April 24-27 is an under-the-radar great time regardless of your enjoyment of the music. In addition to four days of bands, there’s a car show, burlesque show and competition, bowling and more. Just stopping by the Orleans to check out the cars and have a few drinks is a blast.

The Holo Holo music festival is a more traditional all-day show without the bells and whistles at Rockabilly Weekend. The festival takes place at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center across from The D in downtown Las Vegas on April 26 and 27. Headliners include UB-40 and Common Kings.

Look Ahead: EDC takes place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway May 16-18.

April Standup Comedy Engagements

While music engagements take the main stage at many Las Vegas casinos, plenty of stand-up comedians are making regular appearances each month. These shows offer visitors a chance to see comedians in more intimate venues than in their hometowns.

Many comedians have been performing at smaller venues since returning for regular appearances. For example, this month, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is performing at a venue that holds fewer than 4,000 people. He often tours in 20,000-seat arenas and has even performed to more than 50,000 people at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Take a look at the returning stand-up comedy limited engagements in Las Vegas this month:

  • April 12: Brian Regan at The Venetian
  • April 17: Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias at Cosmopolitan
  • April 18: Chelsea Handler at Cosmopolitan
  • April 25: Mo Amer at The Venetian
  • April 26: Daniel Tosh at Cosmopolitan
  • April 26: Brad Williams at The Venetian

Look Ahead: Jimmy O. Yang at Wynn May 2 & 3.

Las Vegas Sports In April

The college basketball season comes to an end in April. While NCAA men's basketball tournament games aren’t played in Las Vegas, it’s still a popular event for college basketball fans and bettors. The Final Four takes place on April 5, and the championship game is on Monday, April 7.

This is the first year for the College Basketball Crown. The tournament will take place in from March 31–April 6. Sixteen teams from power conferences, including USC, Villanova, and Colorado, will compete at MGM Grand. The semifinals and finals will be played at T-Mobile Arena.

The NHL regular season ends this month, and the Vegas Golden Knights have a few games remaining on the schedule at T-Mobile Arena:

  • April 1 vs. Edmonton Oilers
  • April 3 vs. Winnipeg Jets
  • April 10 vs. Seattle Kraken
  • April 12 vs. Nashville Predators

As usual, there are a few combat sports events in Las Vegas throughout the month.

  • April 5: Top Rank Boxing at Palms
  • April 5: UFC Fight Night at UFC Apex
  • April 25: Tuff-N-Uff 143 (MMA) at Palms
  • April 26: UFC Fight Night at UFC Apex

The biggest sports event in Las Vegas this month technically isn’t a sport …

Las Vegas WrestleMania

WrestleMania is returning to Las Vegas for the first time since 1993, when it was held outside at Caesars Palace. Some might call this the worst WrestleMania in the history of the event.

This year, WrestleMania will take place at Allegiant Stadium on April 19 and 20. The show is expected to sell out or come close. However, there are many more events surrounding the big show.

WWE’s weekly TV shows — Raw, SmackDown, and NXT — will each have shows at T-Mobile Arena during the week. There will also be podcast recordings, parties with wrestlers, and even more events taking place throughout Las Vegas, with multiple events at Circa and Fontainebleau.

April Buffet Updates

The Luxor buffet closed at the end of March. MGM Resorts hasn’t announced what will take its place.

Caesars Palace reduced the hours of its Bacchanal buffet. It’s now open daily from 3:30 pm-10 pm. The buffet is serving brunch on the weekend from 9 am-3 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
