The master of Asian game design, PG Soft, has dropped yet another slot to the expanding genre list. This time, the casino game is called Lucky Neko. Before you ask, neko is Japanese for cat. So, is Lucky Neko the purr-fect slot to play, or will you be clawing for an alternative slot machine?
For this review of Lucky Neko, I play the game inside an online casino for real money. I share my experience and discuss the design, programming, gaming features, bonuses, and potential payout. As with all slot reviews at Casinos.com, you can access the official demo of this game. It is 100% free to play and can be enjoyed on any Android or iOS mobile device.
If you enjoy the experience of the free demo game, then stick with Casinos.com as they will help you find the best casinos online that support and provide PG Soft casino games.
When it comes to design, the slots dominate the backdrop, but you still get a rich-filled Asian slot that carries 6 reels and 5 rows. Above reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 is an additional row that spins horizontally. The game comes with a 32,400 ways to win mechanism, with the minimum number of ways to win being 2,025. The menu button will guide you to the paytable that highlights more about the symbol values, features, and rules of play.
The Lucky Neko slot is simple and doesn’t really offer anything new. There are a few quirks to the game, which is what you get with all PG Soft online slots.
The Lucky Neko slot machine is straightforward to play, and once loaded, you first adjust the price you pay/bet per spin. The online slot defaults at $12, which is quite high. Select the bet box and the full pricing list will be revealed. The lowest bet starts at $0.60 and caps at a max bet cost of $180.
Once you’ve set your bet, it’s a simple case of beginning the game by pressing the spin button. You can also opt to play with auto spins if you want the game to do its own thing. Wins are formed by landing 3 to 6 of the same symbol across adjacent reels that start from reel 1. One important feature of the Lucky Neko slot is that it comes with a Tumbler feature. All winning symbols become removed from the reels. The symbols above drop into the space, with new symbols falling into the game, which is why it's called the Tumbler. What the benefit of this mechanism does, is to potentially produce consecutive wins. As symbols shift and are added, new wins can be formed multiple times from a single spin.
The motion of play simply requires you to keep spinning the reels until such time that you’ve either won enough to stop or you’ve come to the end of your budget. However, the gameplay does come with special enhancements. Symbols that trigger features or bonus rounds can enter into play, and these can potentially lead you to win more real money.
Wilds-on-the-Way: Some basic symbols can appear in a larger size and come with a silver frame. If these are part of a winning outcome, these symbols will evolve with gold frames, when they appear again in another spin and form a win, these then turn into Wilds.
Cat Symbol Multiplier: Cat symbols carry a multiplier, and when more than one appears, the multiplier value increases by x2 per cat. These symbols can also be double in length.
Free Spins Bonus: You must land 4 scatter symbols to be able to activate the main bonus round. With 4 scatters, you will receive 10 free bonus spins. During the round, any scatter symbol that drops on the reels will reward a further 2 free spins. At the beginning of the bonus game, the multiplier for wins starts at x2.
In all honesty, PG Soft isn’t a company I seek out to get my kicks. However, they are very good at what they do, and not enough casinos online host their slots. I had to seek this game out as my current operator didn’t supply this game.
I found Lucky Neko, loaded it, and set my bet at $2 per spin. As I often do, I set the autoplay feature to play 50 spins. Within my first 5 spins, I land a big win of $38.40. 5 spins later, I win another enormous win of $145.20, thanks to a massive x12 multiplier. At this stage, I stop playing and cash out my winnings. Always call an end when the feeling is more than good.
The gameplay is favorable to players, but this might have something to do with the volatility setting. Either way, 10 spins played, and I was able to cash out $153.10 in the end. Perfect result.
The Lucky Neko slot game comes with a programmed medium volatility setting, which is my favorite. The RTP rating is calculated at 96.73%, which is completely average for the market. The maximum that can potentially be won is 5,527 times the player’s betting value. If you play Lucky Neko with spins set to a bet price of $180, then the jackpot will be $994,680!
The Lucky Neko slot is simple and doesn’t really offer anything new. There are a few quirks to the game, which is what you get with all PG Soft online slots. My experience was perfect, only having to play 10 spins and winning enough for me to happily end the game and cash out.
I can see many players liking this game, I may return to it in the future. If you have the same success as I had, then you might also like these alternative casino games:
Temple of Paw by Quickspin
Gold of Fortunes God by Play’n GO
Trees of Treasure by Pragmatic Play
You can play all these for free in their demo mode and their reviews will take you to the best casinos online hosting them as real money slots.

Yes. The main bonus game of Lucky Neko is a free spins round. This is activated when 4 scatter symbols land on the reels. When this happens, players will receive 10 free spins. During the round, more spin can be won, and the game starts with a x2 multiplier on wins.
The RTP calculation for Lucky Neko comes in at 96.73%. This score is a theoretical payback rating. This means that if you play x number of spins, you might win back 96.73% of your money. However, the x-number is based on millions of spins. It’s not accurate because winning is all about luck. You might win $900,000 in your first spin.
