Black Lotus Casino is an offshore casino that is unlicensed in the US. With a long track record of poor customer service, missed payouts, and unfair T&Cs, this site should be avoided at all costs. Plus, without regulatory oversight from a reputable state gambling body like the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, it is not legally obliged to protect and secure players’ personal, private, and financial information.

If I haven’t already scared you off this site, I hope that by the time you’re finished reading this in-depth Black Lotus Casino, your mind will be well made up, and you’ll be saying good riddance to Black Lotus for good.

Does Black Lotus Casino Have a License?

It is unclear whether Black Lotus holds a gambling license, as it is not displayed anywhere on the site or in the terms and conditions, which is an immediate red flag. Although it claims to be licensed, with no information about where and who this so-called license is from, we can assume that it is not, in fact, licensed.

One thing I am absolutely certain of, though, is that Black Lotus does not have a license to operate in the US. iGaming is regulated on a state-by-state basis, and Black Lotus Casino doesn’t hold valid regulation in any of the US’ seven legal online casino states (Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia).

Unlicensed casinos are not subject to the same regulations as licensed casinos and, therefore, pose many risks to US players. They have no legal duty to meet quality, security, or privacy standards and may manipulate game results or even compromise players’ data.

The casino is operated by Genesys Technology N.V., which is licensed in Curaçao by the Government of Curaçao. Yet, the regulatory body’s licensing standards are weak, and it doesn’t have the best reputation in the industry. I also found that the Genesys Technology Affiliates program has been involved with unethical business practices in its relationship with affiliates, including lack of communication and cooperation, delayed or declined payments, and unprofessional behavior.

Platform Usability

While the Black Lotus Casino site itself looks fancy, sporting a modern black design, it is difficult to navigate. Everything took forever to load, too. Waiting longer than 20 seconds for a game to open is just far too long in my eyes. The site’s layout is also pretty generic, following the same design as its sister sites. However, it is simple to use, which is something. It’s worth mentioning, though, that unlicensed casinos often try to lure new players in with an easy-to-use website, so don’t let Black Lotus catch you out here.

Deposit and Withdrawal Issues

The payment options at Black Lotus Casino are limited. You can currently only choose from the following methods: Visa, Mastercard, Bitcoin, and Direct Banking/Wire transfer. The latter option is only available for withdrawals. Unfortunately, the site is missing some popular casino payment methods, such as prepaid cards and e-wallets. Compared to other online casinos in the US, Black Lotus falls short.

It's even worse when you try to use one of the listed payment options to make a deposit. Visa, Mastercard and other fiat payment options are linked to US banks or payment providers where your money is stored. These payment providers are subject to US regulations and are legally obligated to halt any suspicious transactions... like deposits to illegal offshore casinos. This means that even if you use one of the methods the site claims to support, you will still struggle to get your deposit from your bank account to your casino account.

After visiting the banking page, I noticed some major red flags. In the ‘helpful’ deposit tips section, it suggests depositing in odd amounts (like $27.87 instead of $30). The casino advises players that the larger the deposit amount, the less chance it will be rejected, for example, making one deposit of $100 instead of five deposits of $20. Now, I’m no rocket science, but this screams dodgy behavior and is a clear telltale sign that the casino knows that US banks will take a closer look and block transactions that look suspicious, including large or non-decimal amounts (as opposed to the odd amounts mentioned earlier).

But things get even worse when it comes to withdrawals. The casino has a very long track record of refusing to pay out players’ winnings. Whenever it’s brought to the site’s attention, it delays the process even more by requiring over-the-top verification documents. It’s also worth noting that the $150 minimum withdrawal limit is abnormally high. Yet another way the casino stands out from the crowd, but for all the wrong reasons.

Customer Support Experience

On the surface, Black Lotus’ customer support ticks’ boxes, offering both live chat and email support. However, I quickly discovered that the so-called live chat feature is an automated bot with basic template answers, which is anything but helpful.

When it comes to email support, you’re lucky to hear back in a couple of weeks, if at all. In fact, I’m still waiting to receive a response to an email I sent three and a half weeks ago. Plus, if you put more than one query in an email, don’t expect support staff to answer them all at once. This disastrous system means you end up having to send dozens of follow-up emails, which, in the long run, creates even more work for the support team. How the casino thinks this is a good system baffles me. Please, someone, make it make sense.

Gaming Fairness Concerns at Black Lotus

While Black Lotus features over 125 casino games, including slots, table games, and video poker, they took forever to load up.

According to the banner at the bottom of the online casino, the site claims to feature games from top providers like BetSoft. However, it’s not uncommon for unlicensed casinos to run pirated versions of games. These are very tricky to spot as they look like any other online casino game on the outside, but pirated copies are usually tweaked to play in the casino’s favor. With numerous complaints online from players reporting low win rates, it seems that Black Lotus’s games are rigged to rip off players.

Community Feedback and Reputation

I can tell you to avoid Black Lotus until I’m blue in the face. But don’t just take my word for it. Here are just some of the many negative complaints you’ll find about Black Lotus on online casino review comparison sites. Which you have to admit, demonstrates clearly that this operator is up to no good.

  • Petitegamer - ‘Horrible customer service.’
  • Afi4wins - ‘The thing that I dislike most is the very long loading-up time of the website.’
  • Karion Harman - ‘They offer absurd match bonuses, don’t honor their match bonuses, and then require you to pay absurd amounts of money.’

Conclusion: Is Black Lotus a Legit Casino?

In summary, Black Lotus is an offshore casino that is not licensed to operate in the US. It has also been reported to be involved in unethical business practices in its relationship with affiliates. Therefore, it would be in your best interest to avoid the site at all costs.

On top of that, there are dozens of player complaints online relating to missed payouts, rigged games, and unfair bonus terms. Based on everything I found when writing this Black Lotus Casino review, I cannot and will not recommend this site to anyone.

Safe Gambling Guidelines

To avoid being caught out by scam casino sites in the future, I’ve made a handy checklist of things to look out for to ensure your chosen casino is legit.

  • Licensing Information: For a casino to legally operate in the US, it must be registered with a legitimate gambling regulatory body like the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement or the Michigan Gaming Control Board. If you cannot find any information on the site about a license or a license number, you should avoid that casino at all costs, as it is probably operating without one. Playing at unlicensed gambling sites poses many risks. Not only is your personal and financial information exposed, but you are also not legally protected if anything were to happen to you or your money.
  • RNG Certification: A licensed casino must offer fair gaming practices. That is why most reputable casinos undergo regular audits from third-party testing agencies like iTech Labs and Gaming Laboratories International (GLI). These independent testing laboratories will audit the RNGs (Random Number Generators) in a casino’s games to ensure the outcomes are always random. So you can look forward to a fair and rig-free gaming experience.
  • Helpful customer support: All reputable online casinos will offer competent customer support through several channels, including live chat, email, and telephone. Support should also be easy to access with around-the-clock operating hours, ensuring all players get the help they need, no matter the time they prefer to play.
  • Fast and secure payouts: A surefire sign of a trusted casino is one that offers top security features like SSL encryption to safeguard and protect players’ personal, private, and financial data. You can also expect to receive your winnings in a timely manner, usually within 3-5 days of requesting a payout. Many unlicensed platforms will devise numerous excuses to prevent you from withdrawing your money or even outrightly deny you access to it.
  • User reviews: You shouldn’t join a new casino on a whim. You need to do your research first, and one of the best ways to help you spot a rogue casino is by reading honest casino reviews from existing players. Not only will these provide you with valuable insights into what a platform has to offer, but also help you steer clear of any fraudulent casinos. If an operator has multiple complaints about low winning rates, unfair T&Cs, and missed payouts, avoiding them like the plague would be in your best interest.
