Las Vegas gamblers always have plenty to debate and discuss -- what’s the best betting strategy, to double down or not double down, and where can you find the loosest slots, the Strip or Downtown?
But a surprisingly contentious issue to add to that list is where to find the best casino pizza.
Let’s face it, pizza is the perfect pre-gamble, mid-gamble and post-gamble food. If you’re on a hot winning streak, you can grab a quick slice of cheesy carb goodness and get straight back to it. Alternatively, if you want to celebrate a win or commiserate a loss, pizza can help you do both. It’s an all-rounder, so to speak.
This year National Pizza Day falls on Sunday, Feb. 9, which coincides with one of the biggest pizza eating days in the calendar -- Super Bowl LIX.
Pizza and the Super Bowl have long gone together like Penn and Teller or Sigfried and Roy or mac and cheese. Americans reportedly eat 40% more pizza on Super Bowl Sunday than any other Sunday. The expectation this year is nearly 12.5 million pizzas will be sold on gameday.
So this seems like the perfect time to give my take on where to find the best casino pizza in Las Vegas. They’re not ranked in any particular order here, as they all offer something different and, honestly, which is best depends what mood I am in when I get a pizza craving.
But rest assured, I have tried and tested every pizza on this list with my own fair taste buds. Whether that impresses or disturbs you is another matter entirely!
I’m not the biggest fan of Aria when it comes to gambling, but that’s because I always get whipped on the slots. But when it comes to pizza, Moneyline Pizza & Bar is the bee’s knees.
Location-wise it’s ideal, right on the casino floor, between the Bet MGM Sportsbook and the sports bar, so it’s only a few steps from the action. You can sit down for a full pizza pie or grab a slice on the go. Slices are around $8 and full pies are under $30 but portions are huge, so don’t even attempt a pizza pie by yourself.
My favorite is the ‘Meats Amore’ but the ‘Homestead’ is a close second, both on the 16” Moneyline Original Crust. Loads of fresh toppings, smoking hot, and the cheese pull is superb. Quick tip – if you want to eat in, but don’t want a full pie, you can sit at the bar and order a slice. There’s also sports on the TV too, so you can watch the game as you eat.
A relative newcomer to the Strip but already the talk of the town when it comes to pizza gossip - Miami Slice is the hottest new pizza spot in Las Vegas.
Offering artisan NY-style pizza, Miami Slice originated in, yes, you’ve guessed it, Miami, and the Fontainebleau site in Las Vegas is the only other location so far.
The downside of Miami Slice is you have to leave the casino floor to get it, as it’s on the second floor Promenade Food Court. The upside is that the flavors are well worth the escalator ride.
I’ve never ordered a full pizza pie from here, but that’s because they come in one size – 20” and cost around $52. Honestly, that much pizza would induce a food coma for a week. However, a single slice of “Pepperoni Proper” hits the spot every single time.
Bear with me here, the slice by itself is $9, but if you order it ‘All Kicks’ it bumps the cost up to around $15. That is pricey for sure, but it means your delicious thin crunchy pizza ladened with perfectly distributed pepperoni and hot honey, also just got upgraded to include grated parmesan, soft stracciatella cheese and fresh basil too. I’m not joking when I say that sweet, salty and spicy combo makes your taste buds dance. Try it.
Okay, technically Giordano’s isn’t in the Horseshoe casino, but it’s just a matter of steps outside it, so I’m counting it. (And it’s my rules!)
Giordano’s is not just a Vegas thing, they have locations in nine different states, predominantly Illinois, but they have made my list because they offer something different.
The Chicago Deep Dish pizza that Giordano’s is famous for is an absolute must for me every time I visit Sin City. Visually, it’s a masterpiece, and when it comes to cheese pull, it can’t be beaten. This isn’t a pizza you can rush though. It’s a sit-down, take-a-break, work of art that’s worth the wait.
I like both the “Chicago Classic” and the “Meat & More Meat” options for flavor and because it's so deep, the 10” pie is more than enough for two people at around $30. It takes 40 minutes to cook and when it arrives, your eyes deceive you as your brain tells you it’s a pie or a cake, but it’s all pizza and it’s mouth-wateringly delicious.
Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino and
Green Valley Ranch Spa Resort and Casino
Pizza Rock has two Nevada casino locations, one of which is on the casino floor at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. The other is in downtown Las Vegas directly opposite the Downtown Grand casino resort so we’ll focus on that one.
Ask anyone where to find the best pizza downtown and I guarantee Pizza Rock will be named 9 times out of 10. And that’s for good reason.
Pizza at Pizza Rock comes from 13-time World Champion Pizza Maker Chef Tony Gemignani. If anyone knows pizza, Tony does, and you can taste it in his work.
You can grab a slice of pizza from the counter at the front or sit in the cool rock-themed restaurant for a more restful bite to eat.
The menu is an experience in itself with Italian and American style pizzas on offer - you could spend all day choosing what to order. My personal favorite is the ‘Tony 2 Times’ Classic American 13” pizza for just under $30. The toppings are plentiful, so I recommend you eat it NY style to avoid spillage, and then just devour the taste.
It wouldn’t be right for me not to also mention the Classic Meatballs for a starter. At 3 for $10 or 6 for $16, they are simply incredible. Trust me.
New York-New York Hotel & Casino
If you love pizza on the go, then you can’t beat Sirrico’s at New York-New York. Located just to the side of the casino floor, it is one of a few quick-bite food stops within the Village Street Eateries.
Sirrico’s is a quick, no fuss pizza, with a yummy taste. There are just five options to choose from - Cheese, Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushroom or Vegetarian, and you can choose from Traditional or Sicilian style.
Slices range from $7.50 to $8.50 depending on your preference, while full 18” pies cost $36 – $39. You can take it to go or sit at one of the handful of tables outside. It’s casual with a capital C, and just a great place to eat if you want something quick and tasty.
Whenever I eat here, I tend to take advantage of the $10.95 Pizza and Beer deal which is a slice of your choice (always Pepperoni for me) plus a Busch Light. It’s a fab way to take a quick time-out from gambling but still soak in the casino atmosphere while you do.
Because Sirrico’s is open late until around 2am or 3am on weekends, it can get busy late-on. There’s often a queue in the early hours, so they must be doing something right!
Whoever came up with the idea of opening a pizza place, not giving it any branding and hiding it in a secret location on the third floor of the Cosmopolitan is either a genius or a lunatic. But, here it is – Secret Pizza, the worst-kept secret in town.
The plan obviously worked, as I’ve never seen Secret Pizza empty, but I still think it was a risky gamble. But what do I know about marketing right? People love something with an air of mystery, you just have to look at how popular speakeasies are in Vegas so see that.
First-time visitors might struggle to find Secret Pizza, but when you’ve been there once, you’ll almost certainly be back. (Tip – head to Blue Ribbon and follow the corridor with the music album covers mounted to the wall.)
Now I’ll be honest here, Secret Pizza isn’t for everyone. I’ve heard more than a few people say that they find the pizzas a little greasy. But it’s all down to personal choice, and I’ve never had a bad experience here. Pepperoni and mushroom is my go-to choice and I love the thin base and crunchy crust.
Cheese Slices are $6.50 or $7.50 with a topping, you then pay 50 cents for every extra topping. Pizza pies are made to order and start at $30 with an extra $2 per topping.
It’s definitely a no-frills pizza stop. The menu board is old-school, and there’s only a handful of seats in there. But for most people, including me, it’s usually my last stop between gambling and bed so I take it back to the room with me.
The great news for late-night casino gamblers, is that Secret Pizza is open until 4am every night which is a blessing when you’re hungry after a long session at the tables or slots.
Mandalay Bay and Luxor
In reality this is closer to Luxor’s casino, but it’s situated in The Shoppes at Mandalay Place between Mandalay Bay and Luxor, so it’s handy for both casinos.
Slice of Vegas is a pizza place with a social hang out, sports-bar kind of vibe. Although you can grab a slice to go from the deli counter at the side, its more of a sit-in place with its own bar and a handful of big TV’s showing sports.
The menu is large, and as well as all the usual pizza favorites, they do a varied selection of Sicilian and Half Sicilian options. They also offer a good choice of vegan and gluten-free pizzas too so it’s pretty inclusive.
I’ve always fancied trying the breakfast pizza but haven’t got round to it yet. The ‘Supreme’ (without the black olives) or the BBQ Chicken are my personal recommendations. Plus, throw in the garlic knots appetizer and you won’t be disappointed.
If you love spice and you’re brave enough to try it, the ‘Helldorado’ might hit the spot. It’s not my kind of thing, but I have friends who love it.
Slice of Vegas is just a good all-rounder in terms of fab pizza in a fun lively setting. Best of all it’s just a couple of minutes in either direction to a big Vegas casino floor. What’s not to love?
Plaza Hotel & Casino
We go back downtown for the last pizza place on my list, Pop Up Pizza at the Plaza Hotel & Casino.
Pop Up Pizza isn’t going to win any awards for décor, branding or presence if I’m completely honest. It sits right at the back of Plaza’s casino floor and you could easily miss it if you didn’t know it was there.
But believe me, when you want a quick slice to go, or you have late-night munchies, it’s exactly what you need. Is there a hint of grease there? Hell yeh, but what’s a slice of NY pizza without some juice? It’s tasty, reasonably priced and the slices are big.
A slice will cost just $6 or $7 and a whole pie costs around $23 - $27. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve used the ‘2 slices and a drink for $12.99’ deal. In my opinion it’s the best value pizza in Vegas.
