Cosmopolitan to Officially Become Part of MGM Rewards on July 30

MGM Resorts announced the purchase of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas more than two years ago. After a very long wait, the entire property will finally become part of the MGM Rewards family on July 30, 2024.

There has been a lot of anticipation for this integration. For the past two years guests at The Cosmopolitan, including myself, have been wondering when their spending at this individually operated casino would give them benefits at other casinos in Las Vegas and around the US.

Since the purchase, The Cosmopolitan has been using Identity Rewards. The change will give customers of The Cosmopolitan access to 33,000 MGM Resorts hotel rooms, 400 restaurants at those properties, shows, and more casino games at 14 different casinos around the US.

The time for loyal guests at The Cosmopolitan to add the perks from MGM Rewards is just around the corner.

Note: You can earn MGM Rewards by playing online in states that real money online casinos are legal.

MGM Rewards To Double Identity Tier Points

Casinos offering new rewards programs can be a pain for all parties involved. The process can often take more than a year for the casino operator. Meanwhile, guests can be confused about spending money with a rewards program that will become outdated sooner or later.

MGM understands the frustration of guests at The Cosmopolitan and is trying to make the changeover easy for rewards members. According to the MGM Rewards FAQ:

“Identity Members will be sent an email with a new MGM Rewards account number and activation link. If you already have an MGM Rewards account, you’ll continue to log in to your existing account as usual.”

MGM Rewards is offering a small boost in Tier Credits for Identity Rewards members. In a recent email to Identity Rewards members, MGM Resorts shared the following perk:

“Identity Tier Points earned July 30, 2023 – July 29, 2024, at The Cosmopolitan will be DOUBLED and will be converted into MGM Rewards Tier Credits as of July 29, 2024.”

How Points And Tier Status Will Transfer

MGM Rewards Tier Credits will be based on previous Identity Rewards Tier Points and table play. This will be combined with any existing MGM Rewards Tier Credits.

The new MGM Rewards Tier Status will be good through January 31, 2026. Guests can add to their Tier Status by spending money at any MGM Rewards casino through Dec. 31, 2024.

Identity Rewards Points earned from slot machine play will be transferred to MGM Rewards Slot Dollars. This can be converted to Free Play at any MGM Rewards casino.

Identity Rewards Points earned from non-gaming spend will become MGM Rewards Points. These points can be redeemed for hotel stays, dining, entertainment, and more at any MGM Rewards property in the US.

MGM Rewards Properties

Most MGM Resorts properties are in Las Vegas. The casino operator also has a handful of casinos located around the country.

The Cosmopolitan joins the following Las Vegas casinos that are already part of MGM Rewards:

  • Aria (and Vdara hotel)
  • Bellagio
  • Excalibur
  • Luxor
  • Mandalay Bay (and Delano hotel)
  • MGM Grand (and Signature hotel)
  • New York-New York
  • Park MGM (and NoMad hotel)

MGM Rewards members can earn and use rewards from spending at the hotels connected with the more well-known casinos.

Identity Rewards members will now be able to earn and use MGM Rewards at the following casinos around the US:

Access to these casinos is new but it won’t be the first time guests at The Cosmopolitan will be able to use rewards outside of Las Vegas. The Cosmopolitan has been a part of the Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection.

The Cosmopolitan will have a new casino rewards program but it will remain partners with Marriott. The MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy launched earlier this year.
