Flamingo, MGM Grand Pool Upgrades Ready for Spring Break

There will be two new pool experiences in Las Vegas when the season begins this Spring. The Flamingo Go Pool is receiving a full makeover while closed for the winter. A little south on the Vegas Strip, Palm Tree Beach Club will replace Wet Republic at MGM Grand.

Caesars spent $20 million to upgrade the 1.5-acre Go Pool complex at Flamingo Las Vegas. The pool is slated to open in March and will serve as the pool experience for all hotel guests and those looking for a dayclub pool party.

Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM Grand is separate from the main 6.5-acre pool complex. The dedicated dayclub is about 60,000 square feet and is open to anyone 21 and older willing to pay the admission fee when it opens in May.

New-and-Improved Flamingo Go Pool

The Flamingo pool has been one of the most popular features since the casino hotel opened in 1946. While the pool area has changed a lot over the years, it remains one of the most popular reasons for visitors to choose the Flamingo over other Vegas Strip properties.

Dan Walsh, senior vice president and general manager of Flamingo Las Vegas, says:

“This project is not a renovation; it’s a completely different pool complex that was constructed from the ground up. The team has worked tirelessly for months to develop a new Go Pool that honors the rich history of the Flamingo with a stylish and modern aesthetic inspired by the resort’s origins.”

Flamingo is one of the few Vegas Strip properties where guests can walk and sit on natural grass. The lushness of the property has been a calling card for years, and the new Flamingo Go Pool complex should evoke some of those memories with the 55 huge palm trees and another 35 brought over from the old pool complex.

The main multi-level pool features a swim-up bar covered by a large canopy with in-water seating for 30 guests. This area will include a 50-foot-wide “rain curtain” waterfall. The adjoining grotto pool will cascade into the main pool.

According to Caesars, both hotel and non-hotel guests 21 and older can enjoy complimentary general admission to the Go Pool on a first-come, first-served basis when it opens in March. Guests can also reserve daybeds and cabanas online.

Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM Grand Coming Soon

While the Flamingo is offering a major upgrade, Palm Tree Beach Club is taking over the space at MGM Grand once known as Wet Republic. This is a dayclub open only to those 21 and older when it opens in May.

The pool party destination is just under 60,000 square feet but packs a big punch. The 3,000-capacity venue has a new design and will include a ground-level stage for entertainers, a saltwater pool, 12 bungalows and 10 cabanas, along with daybeds and chaise lounges.

The new dayclub is a partnership with DJ Kygo’s Palm Tree Crew and Tao Group. It will be an entertainment destination for many EDM fans. Palm Tree Crew has put on music festivals in the Hamptons, Aspen and Lake Tahoe.

“We jumped at the opportunity to bring a new boutique, festival-style experience to the Las Vegas market for the first time,” Tao Group's Jason Strauss explained

Guests can expect to see familiar EDM names like Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Zedd and Alesso performing at MGM Grand’s new dayclub. Potential guests can see the performance schedule here
