Kansas’s Most Luxurious Casinos, According to Tripadvisor Reviews

The Sunflower State, and especially Kansas City (the City of Fountains), has enjoyed plenty of sporting success, especially in the NFL, over the last few years. And if you want to see a top-drawer sports dynasty, you might as well treat yourself to a luxurious stay at one of the local casinos in the state of Kansas.

There are certainly a few casino options to explore in Kansas. While none of the state’s casinos offer the full range of classic table games, poker rooms, and dedicated sports betting sections, they do have plenty to offer. 

Many of these establishments feature restaurants, luxurious suites, and first-class facilities, with several operated by Native American tribes, along with a few other land-based options.

In Kansas, only certain types of gambling are legal, and unfortunately, online casinos aren’t part of the mix. However, sports betting is legal as of 2022, which is great news for Kansas City Chiefs fans who like to bet on their home team.

Now, since we’re Casinos.com, we have a soft spot for all things casino-related (though we do enjoy the occasional sports bet). So, we decided to dive into the reviews and find out which casino in Kansas might just be the most luxurious. And while we’re at it, we inevitably stumble upon the un-luxurious (if that’s a word) one too, though we’ll leave that to your interpretation.

For each state, we stick to a very 'scientific' method—scouring Tripadvisor reviews for words that practically drip with luxury. You know, the usual suspects: "luxury," "luxurious," "comfort," "magnificent," and other terms that make you feel like you should be sipping champagne in a gold-embossed robe. 

While this doesn’t give us a foolproof way to measure how fancy a casino really is, it does give us a peek into whether visitors felt like they were living in the lap of luxury—or at least lounging in a pretty comfy chair.

So, while these findings won’t crown any casino as the official King of Class, they do give a decent idea of how posh things might seem to the guests. Take it with a grain of salt—or maybe a sprinkle of caviar—but who knows, you might just find the elegance you’re looking for!

Coming in at the number one spot on our luxury casinos index is the Prairie Band Casino & Resort with an impressive 14.10% luxury score. A small caveat to raise before we get into things, as the resort only has 78 reviews in total, which isn’t the biggest sample size. However, let’s see what people had to say. 

“It had been about a year and a half since we had stayed here. We were very impressed. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. They have added quite a bit since we had been there—the lobby bar and coffee bar. The additions have made quite a difference to the hotel—we really liked it,” wrote Cheryl. 

Things get a lot tighter now and next up was the 7th Street Casino, although quite some way back with just a 4% score in our index. 

That means just one review out of 25 mentioned a luxury-related keyword, equivalent to 4%. And what did that review say?

“First, it is in a bad part of town, and we were not comfortable being in the area. And parking was tough. But we went inside anyway.”

It would be unfair on other casino destinations for us to keep the 7th Street Casino in second place, given the only example of luxury based on keyword research was a negative one, so we’ll remove them from the equation and award the Kansas Star Casino the official second place in our rankings with 3.59%.

And here there were some actual examples of luxury, with mentions of "magnificent," "comfortable," "pleasure," and “fancy” present in reviews. 

“Rooms were nice, bed was comfortable, and room didn't smell like smoke,” wrote Terry. Your room not smelling like smoke should be a minimum requirement for luxury, but we’re happy to see this was the case nonetheless. 

Methodology 

Casinos.com utilized Tripadvisor reviews to do an in-depth analysis of phrases associated with luxury to determine the most and least luxurious casinos in the state of Kansas. We calculated the percentage of luxury-rated mentions in the total Tripadvisor reviews from the keywords mentioned below. 

Only casinos with the requisite number of reviews were chosen for this study in order to represent a fair data set. For Kansas, the minimum number of reviews was 25.
