According to data from the Maryland Lottery & Gaming Control Agency, four of Maryland’s six land-based casinos saw increased month-on-month revenues in July 2024. Total revenues for July reached $169,821,301, a 4.23 percent increase from June, which saw revenues of $162,914,432.
However, July’s revenues were still down 2.58 percent year-on-year, with the revenues of every casino in the state dropping compared to July 2023. Some MD casinos saw revenue percentage decreasing by double figures.
The two biggest casinos in Maryland, MGM National Harbor and Live! Casino & Hotel saw the smallest revenue changes, but the performances of smaller casinos dragged down the revenues for the whole state. Horseshoe Casino and Rocky Gap Casino saw drastic year-on-year decreases in revenues, dropping 16.9 percent and 13.4 percent, respectively.
Hollywood Casino and Oceans Downs Casino experienced a slightly more moderate decrease in revenue.

There was a nominal difference between VLT revenues year-on-year, with just a 0.5 percent decrease in revenues across all casinos in this game category. Some casinos actually saw growth in revenues from VLTs, with MGM National Harbor (5.4 percent increase) and Live! Casino & Hotel (0.35 percent increase) leading in totals.
Maryland casino revenues dropped significantly in table games such as poker or baccarat, with a 6.85 percent decrease across all casinos. The impact in this category was made by MGM National Harbor, with nearly an 8 percent year-on-year decrease in table game revenues, from $30,475,709 to $28,046,392.
While Maryland casinos' year-on-year performance isn’t encouraging, most of the state’s land-based gambling locations saw a month-on-month rise in revenues. Oceans Downs Casino had a double-digit increase in revenues of 18.25 percent, marking its best performance in 2024. Rocky Gap Casino also posted its best revenue total in 2024, and its revenue totals jumped significantly month-on-month.

MGM National Harbor and Live! Casino & Hotel also experienced healthy revenue increases. Meanwhile, Hollywood Casino revenues dropped slightly in July 2024 compared to June 2024, its second lowest revenue figures of 2024.
Horseshoe Casino saw the most significant drop in month-on-month revenues at 5.63 percent. VLT game revenues decreased by nearly 12.9 percent. While table game revenues jumped up by almost 13 percent, it wasn’t enough to offset the VLT losses for the overall revenues.
