Maryland’s Most Luxurious Casinos, According To Tripadvisor Reviews

But let’s cut to the chase (or, as we like to say, the chips) and talk luxury. We wanted to crown the most luxurious casino in Maryland, so we dived deep into Tripadvisor reviews. Armed with keywords like “luxury,” “magnificent,” “fancy,” and “luxurious,” we analyzed what real players had to say to find out which casino reigns supreme in opulence. While we can't guarantee a lucky streak, we can steer you towards the swankiest spot.

Oh, and if you’re curious about the least luxurious? We might get into that, but we’d rather keep things on the bright side. After all, who doesn’t love a little extra sparkle?

So with all that said, let’s get right into business. According to Tripadvisor reviews, the Rocky Gap Casino, Resort & Golf establishment is the most luxurious casino in Maryland, scoring an eye-watering 14.08%. Trust us, we’ve done plenty of these studies across different states, and this is an extremely healthy score. Out of 348 reviews, there were 49 luxury-related keyword mentions.

It’s not too surprising; golf and luxury go hand in hand, and when you add a casino into the mix, it checks all the boxes for us. But what did visitors have to say? 

“Beautiful place tucked in the mountains. Accommodations were great: soft linens & towels, comfortable beds. Stunning view of lake & mountains from room. The casino was nice, not overly crowded. Plenty of gaming options. Staff was friendly,” wrote Lesley, while Thomas added, “Facilities. Absolute class. Upon walking in, you notice that the facilities and facades are beautiful, well maintained, and clean. Outdoor walking paths along the reservoir, well-placed restaurants with views, and actual sand beaches are just a few of the facility highlights.”

Next up was the MGM National Harbor, who came in with a score of 13.34%, which would have given them the pole position in plenty of states themselves. There were 14 mentions of luxury, far more than any other casino on the list, including the Horseshoe Casino, which has some 24,000 reviews, making the feat all the more impressive. 

Alexis commented, “Celebrating my friend's birthday at MGM National Harbor in April 2023 was an experience filled with luxury, convenience, and delightful surprises. This hotel proved to be an excellent choice for such a special occasion.”

Another reviewer added, “We love luxury hotels, and this one is one of the most magnificent places we've ever seen in 44 years of marriage. Not much to say except WOW WOW WOW!”

Speaking of the Horseshoe Casino, featured in last place. Only just, however, with the mega-resort coming in just 0.02% ahead of their closest competitor in the list, Ocean Downs Casinos. 

It’s not all negative news, however, as the Horseshoe still had plenty of mentions of luxury, and given it’s a hot spot to visit and has over 17,000 four- and five-star reviews, we would still recommend checking it out if you’re visiting Baltimore!

Methodology 

Casinos.com utilized Tripadvisor reviews to do an in-depth analysis of phrases associated with luxury to determine the most and least luxurious casinos in the state of Maryland. 

We calculated the percentage of luxury-rated mentions in the total Tripadvisor reviews from the keywords mentioned below. Only casinos with the requisite number of reviews were chosen for this study in order to represent a fair data set. For Maryland, the minimum number of reviews was 80.
