Social media is full of influencers, some good, some bad. Styles differ. It is easy to while away one’s time looking at video after video and realise the day has gone.

The latest mass dump on socials was the hoo-ha of Donald Trump’s inauguration. As soon as Melania appeared in that stunning outfit and very classy hat, we knew there was going to be trouble.

Social media filled with the ‘awks’ moment Don went in for a kiss. Poor guy isn’t alone; I lost count of the number of times I almost took my wife’s eye out wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap (other teams available).

Jacob Has a Handle on All Things Las Vegas

This week a guy called Jacob caught my eye, not in a bad injury way. Jacob sells himself as someone who can help you understand Vegas before you visit.

From playing slots, eating at casinos, and swimming at the best hotel destinations to which store gets robbed the most. Jacob's content is diverse and interesting, especially to a 60-something guy sitting in the cold in Wales, UK hankering after a visit to sin city and encountering the warmth of the desert.

We can all dream and Jacob certainly offers the next best thing: virtual presence on those sometimes mean streets.

You can see all the glitz and glamour one has come to expect having seen so many Hollywood movies depicting Vegas as a place where you can bump into the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra (did I mention I'm 60-something?).

Today you are more likely to bump into Mariah Carey taking up the residency.

Owl Spotting and Most Robbed Store on the Strip

Jacob’s content ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous and all stops in between. He recently posted about the $300 million Ferris wheel that never was.

There were plans for another Ferris wheel-type attraction at the south end of the strip. The 247-foot twin pillars are all that is left of a $300 million project called Skyview.

The 500-foot Skyview Las Vegas Super Wheel project was announced in May of 2000. 32 gondolas holding up to 24 people each could take an amazing view of the Las Vegas Valley while riding the observation wheel.

The project was also supposed to feature restaurants and shopping at the base level, similarly to what the High Roller and Link Promenade were.

Skyview came to a complete stop in September 2012, never getting finished.

If you want to find out a bit more about the hidden and the beautiful Las Vegas Strip, have a peep at Jacob’s content on his Facebook page.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
