Ah, the Sunshine State. Florida is known for sparkling blue water and picturesque beaches, Disney World and Universal Studios, alligators, and the internet-famous “Florida Man” meme - all the good stuff. But if you can separate yourself from the rollercoasters and unentangle yourself from the jaws of a gator, you’ll also find an impressive array of casino destinations in the state.
Way back in the early 1900s, Florida was a gambling destination. Not that people really went on gambling holidays back then (or maybe they did, we don’t have a time machine to go back and see), but gambling was pretty much banned from the 1930s until the 1980s.
The Seminole Tribe then started opening up some casinos, and flash forward to 2024, and there are 15 casinos in the state. The overall economic impact on the state was $12.70 last year, and the industry employs over 70,000 people.
Most casinos would love to be considered “luxurious”, but unfortunately they don’t always live up to the standards we’d like to see. Our team of experts at Casinos.com decided to head to Tripadvisor to check out the ratings for casinos in FL, to see which ones could be considered the most luxurious.
We did this in a totally scientific way, by searching for reviews that contained certain keywords like “magnificent”, “comfortable”, and “delightful”. The ones that got the most topped our list.
These are the casinos we looked at in the process:
Now it’s time to see the results!
Right at the top of our list is Miccosukee Casino & Resort , with 9.88%. 24 people mentioned our keywords in their reviews, and there were 70 4 or 5 star reviews out of 243, which isn’t bad at all.
Located in Miami, this casino has around 600 game options, so while it might not be the biggest casino you’ve ever visited, you'll see reviews that say things like
“We are not typically casino goers---this was a totally random stop after visiting the alligator attraction. Vast parking and in a very prominent easy to find spot, this casino was a pleasant surprise.”
See - we told you everyone in Florida was into alligators.
Moving on, in second place on the list, we have Grand Oaks Resort, which received 7.19% on our scale. The first thing that tipped us off that this might be a really luxurious casino was the fact that 120 out of 139 reviews rated it four or five stars. It’s set in a scenic resort in Florida’s horse county, and a lot of people called out the beautiful views and relaxing atmosphere.
Getting our bronze medal for the third most luxurious casino in Florida was Tropical Breeze Casino in Port Richie, which got 5.61% on the scale. There’s one thing that makes this casino seriously cool - it’s on a boat! We just don’t get that where we’re from.
We saw positive reviews, like “Went on the sunset Cruise so it left at 3:00 p.m. and my friend and I had a blast. The weather was beautiful. On Mondays they give you $10 to gamble with they also give you five drink tickets whatever you'd like to drink well drinks or water or soda and their food is not expensive.”
On the flip side, there were also a couple of casinos that didn’t rate very well on the scale at all. Right at the bottom, we have Magic City Casino, with a very sad 1.76%. There were only three mentions of our keywords anywhere in 222 reviews, and no one said it was “luxurious” or “impressive”.
One even said “Waitresses do not provide free drinks, such as soda and water. The Magic casino fell into disgrace.” That isn’t luxury in our books.
Seminole Brighton Casino in Broward County was a little better, with 2.39% on our Luxury Scale. One review mentioned that this was a “Very comfortable place to play and spend several hours.”, so you might be surprised if you do pay them a visit.
Casinos.com utilized Tripadvisor reviews to do an in-depth analysis of phrases associated with luxury to determine the most luxurious casinos in the state of Florida. We calculated the percentage of luxury-rated mentions in the total Tripadvisor reviews.
Keywords tracked: luxury, luxurious, magnificent, delightful, comfort, comfortable, impressive, pleasure, indulge, extravagant, fancy, exclusive, satisfied
