Tribal police arrested 27-year-old Abdul Rahman Zaina last week after he allegedly exposed himself and hit a dealer with a glass bottle at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood.
Seminole police say that the incident occurred early in the morning on Tuesday, July 30, just before 1:45 am.
According to the arrest report, Zaina “exposed himself in a poker room by unbuttoning his pants, undoing his belt and taking his penis out.” The report says he then “waved and shook it at security and passersby.”
Zaina, who is from Jamaica, Queens, in New York City, was told to leave by casino staff. Instead, he walked towards the cashier cage and began arguing with a security guard. After Zaina put his hands in the face of the guard, the security guard dropped Zaina to the ground.
Police say that Zaina managed to get up and get away from the guard. At that point, they allege that he picked up a glass bottle and shouted threats at security personnel. Zaina would allegedly go on to throw the bottle, hitting a dealer in the arm and injuring them.
Zaina was then arrested and taken to Broward Main Jail. He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and indecent exposure and was held on a $8,000 bond.
The report didn’t supply any reason as to why Zaina was acting in this manner. However, the incident was reportedly captured on surveillance cameras. There have been no reports as to when Zaina may face further court dates.
The Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood is one of six gaming facilities run by the Seminole Tribe in Florida. The tribe also owns the Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood, a second Hard Rock Casino in Tampa, and additional Seminole Casinos in Coconut Creek, Immokalee, and Brighton.
The Seminoles also control the exclusive rights to online sports betting in Florida, thanks to a compact with the state that was approved by the Florida legislature and Governor Ron DeSantis in 2021.
While opponents have argued that the compact is in violation of both state and federal laws, courts have upheld the agreement, with the Supreme Court of the United States declining to hear the case earlier this year. The tribe has been offering online sports betting in Florida since December.
