There are lots of romantic things to do in Pennsylvania. So many that when we Googled “romantic things to do in Pennsylvania,” there were suggestions of visiting Mt. Washington, or a museum, or even an Amish farm. And while all of these sound absolutely thrilling, we’re gamblers at heart, and our idea of a romantic date is a casino destination.
If you’re anything like us, you might be wondering exactly which PA casinos are perfect for a little bit of romance and which are best avoided. Casinos.com to the rescue! We looked at thousands of Tripadvisor reviews to find the most romantic casinos in all of Pennsylvania.
By searching for mentions of certain keywords like “proposed,” “romance,” and “honeymoon,” we were able to rank the casinos on a very scientific scale.
We looked at these casinos in PA:
One PA casino stood out amongst all the rest on the romance scale. Valley Forge Casino Resort received a whopping 9.35%, with 162 mentions of our keywords. 121 people used the word “wedding,” while another 32 reviews referred to the experience as “romantic.”
The casino boasts a huge gaming floor as well as a luxury hotel, restaurants, and nightlife, so it sure does tick a lot of boxes.
One reviewer said, “I would recommend this hotel to all lovers, new or old,” while another called out the jacuzzi as being a must for couples.
Mount Airy Casino Resort Spa also did quite well in the rankings, with 4.89% on the scale. “Honeymoon,” “Wedding,” and “Romantic” were called out the most. Mount Airy was the first Pennsylvania casino to earn the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Rating, and guests can enjoy the spa and dining options, as well as lots of slot machines and tables.
According to one review, “My fiancé and I wanted to have a romantic getaway finally away from the kids and I must say Mount Airy did not disappoint.”
Live Casino & Hotel Philadelphia came in at third place, but with only five keyword mentions out of a total of 391 reviews, resulting in 1.28% on our scale. The casino offers 24/7 gambling, as well as restaurants and bars, live entertainment, and a hotel featuring more than 200 luxurious rooms.
Overall, Live Casino & Hotel is a great place for a wedding or a romantic getaway. “I recently had my wedding reception here last month and it was the greatest 5-star experience!!” said one review.
Onto the not-so-good. Would you believe that there were two casinos that got absolutely no mentions of any of our keywords? We think it’s pretty safe to say that these properties are an absolute no-go if you’re looking for a romantic destination. Seriously, out of a combined total of more than 400 reviews, not one person thought either of these casinos was romantic.
Rivers Casino Philadelphia had 307 reviews and a rating of 0.00% on the scale. Overall, the reviews of the casino aren’t bad; people commented on the entertainment options, and some even said they won on slots. Although one person did say that “the restroom looks better at the Philly Greyhound bus station,” so there’s that.
Also scoring zero was Wind Creek Bethlehem, which is perhaps slightly more acceptable as the casino only had 102 reviews in total. Some reviews called both the casino and the city of Bethlehem “run down,” so overall we can see why it might not be the ideal destination for a wedding or proposal.
One casino that did get some keyword mentions—but still ranked very poorly—was Harrah's Philadelphia. This casino received a rating of 0.10% on our scale, based on more than 14,000 reviews.
While one person said they’d come back here to get married, there were more reviews along the lines of the one that said, “This place is going downhill so fast and no one seems to care."
Casinos.com utilized Tripadvisor reviews to do an in-depth analysis of phrases associated with being romantic to determine the Pennsylvania casino that is the most romantic. We calculated the percentage of memorable-related mentions in the total Tripadvisor reviews.
Keywords tracked: Romantic, Proposal, Proposed, Wedding, Engaged, Married, Marriage, Honeymoon
