Following some 23 months of work, American casino operator Century Casinos Incorporated has officially opened the 69-room hotel adjacent to its Century Casino and Hotel Cape Girardeau casino location.
The firm revealed the new six-story The Riverview hotel sits on the banks of the Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to offer guests the ability to enjoy panoramic views of North America’s second longest waterway.
The casino operator stated the fresh 68,000 sq ft facility also features ‘indulgent spa services’ operated in collaboration with ‘local partners’ as well as a pair of restaurants in Beacon 53 and the more casual Red Star Grill.
The Riverview cost $30.5 million to build and was opened for business on Thursday afternoon following a brief ribbon cutting ceremony attended by several local dignitaries and a selection of Century Casinos Incorporated personnel.
Lyle Randolph, General Manager for Century Casino and Hotel Cape Girardeau, told the Southeast Missourian newspaper that the addition ‘is different from your typical hotel’ as most of its rooms face the Mississippi River. This gives guests a prime view of the nearby Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge and any boats traveling along the river.
“I think the experience we’re trying to create is something unique and something special to Cape Girardeau, especially for downtown,” Randolph said. “As opposed to it being just a standalone hotel, the casino brings the opportunity for an overall entertainment complex where there’s multiple things to do.”
Century Casinos Incorporated asserted that the construction of The Riverview was ‘financed with cash on hand’ and offers patrons ‘a unique and captivating experience that combines the thrill of gaming at the adjoining casino with the picturesque beauty of the riverfront’.
The Colorado Springs-headquartered operator additionally declared the new hotel is named after a local predecessor destroyed by fire in 1916 and allows guests to ‘indulge in a world of luxury and entertainment’ whether they're looking to play slots, gamble, dine, unwind, or simply ‘take a leisurely stroll along the riverbank’.
“At The Riverview, we pride ourselves on providing a seamless blend of excitement, comfort, delectable dining and relaxation, ensuring a truly unparalleled stay for our guests,” read a statement from Century Casinos Incorporated.
“Whether you're seeking respite, excitement or a seamless fusion of both, The Riverview awaits, promising an unparalleled escape along the enchanting riverfront.”
Established in 1992, Century Casinos Incorporated is responsible for eleven American casinos on top of Europe’s eight-strong Casino Poland chain of gambling-friendly venues. The Nasdaq-listed company is currently building a 38-room hotel for its Century Casino and Hotel Caruthersville venue and expects to have completed work on this $51.9 million project by the end of the year.
To celebrate the opening of The Riverview, Randolph revealed his facility hosted a range of musical and entertainment acts over the weekend, including a Sunday performance from Grand Ole Opry member Lauren Alaina.
He stated that the hotel has also buried a time capsule that will not be opened until the next solar eclipse passes over Cape Girardeau in 2343.
