These Are The Luckiest Casinos in Idaho, According To Reviewers

Idaho isn’t exactly known for its casinos or gambling facilities, but that doesn’t mean you can’t place a wager, even if the options are limited. In fact, there are only around seven casino destinations in the entire state that we can find, and out of them only three are regularly visited or even open.

Still, gambling in the Gem State is certainly a thing, even if it’s not the same booming industry other states can boast. In fact, throughout the 1900s, gambling was seen as taboo and mostly took the form of illegal betting through slots or card games in cigar stores. In 1947, though, new legislation passed that allowed “coin-operated amusement devices," which increased in popularity over the years but were then banned in 1953.

Currently, all casinos in Idaho are associated with Indian tribes, with many of them servicing remote areas outside of the major cities. However, gamblers who are keen to play blackjack or roulette must look out of state, with only slot machines or video poker allowed at establishments.

A new proposed ‘Mountain Home Casino’ is mooted to be coming soon, with the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of the Duck Valley Reservation and Shoshone-Bannock Tribes both bidding for control, according to the Idaho Statesman

But even though gambling isn’t hugely popular in Idaho, we still wondered where exactly the luckiest place to hit the casino floor was in Alabama, so we scraped all three casinos with enough visitor reviews in the state to find out which is the luckiest casino.

To do this, our research and analytics teams scraped review data on each of the casinos listed above related to luck-related keywords. So, for example, reviews that had one instance of "luck," "profit," "winning," "bonus, and other terms we figured are associated with luck to make a data-based determination.

These are casinos we took a look at:

  • Casino at Best Western Kootenai River Inn
  • Clearwater River Casino & Lodge
  • Fort Hall Casino
The Luckiest Casinos in Idaho

We can confirm, after scraping the reviews at all three casinos that we could find in Idaho, that Fort Hall Casino prevailed as the luckiest with an incredible 54.39% on our luck rating scale!

We’ve done quite a few of these from state to state, and 54.39% is a pretty darn high score. So pat on the back for you, Fort Hall Casino. But what are the patrons saying?

Well, out of 114 reviews, we had 18 mentions of "won" and 9 mentions of "jackpot." Not too shabby if you ask us.

“Slots pay off decently, and if you’re a lucky person, you could win a nice jackpot,” said Max. Preach Max, preach.

First place was quite some distance ahead when it came to Idaho, with second-placed Clearwater River Casino & Lodge posting a respectable 20.61% luck-rating score that puts them in a distant second place. Clearwater River Casino & Lodge, based in Lewiston, Idaho, didn’t have the greatest of overall reviews, with more “terrible” ratings than any other. Still, it seems some people do get lucky here, and a testament to that was that they had several mentions of "bonus" and "winner" that boosted their luck score.

So, moving on to third in the list, we have the Casino at Best Western Kootenai River in. We say third, but we also mean last, as this establishment finished bottom of the pile of casinos in the state that met our threshold for minimum number of reviews required to feature on the list.

top 3 luckiest casinos in idaho

The Casino at Best Western Kootenai River Inn came in just marginally behind Clearwater River Casino & Lodge, with 14.78% on our luck rating scale. With 115 reviews at the time of writing, just one more review than the number one spot, visitors mentioned "won," "winning," and "jackpot" frequently throughout their reviews.

It feels harsh to say that any casino is the unluckiest in Idaho, but unfortunately, Casino at Best Western Kootenai River Inn is tagged as such by our data. Let us caveat this by saying that a luck percentage score of 14.78% would place them relatively high on the list across multiple other states; it just so happens that Idaho is not one of them.
