A thrilling new chapter for the Visayas region is set to unfold as billionaire tycoon Andrew Tan announces a dazzling $300 million investment in an integrated resort development including a casino destination

Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI), under Tan’s vision, will introduce the Mactan World Resorts, planned to commence commercial operations by the end of 2026.

A Gateway to Recreation and Relaxation

Situated just 20 minutes from Mactan Cebu International Airport—one of the country’s busiest gateways—Mactan World Resorts promises to elevate the local landscape with a modern hotel, a luxurious resort, and an intimate boutique casino

Tan expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The Mactan World Resort will be the latest integrated resort in our Cebu township, enhancing the area's appeal as a prime travel destination.”

While the investment is significant, he revealed that the casino will be designed on a smaller, boutique scale. He emphasised the desire for a setting that fits seamlessly within Boracay’s stunning environment.

“We’re focused on a more sustainable design that complements the island’s natural beauty. We don’t want massive structures; we aim for a right-sized experience,” Tan remarked.

The Philippines' gaming and hospitality sectors continue to flourish, the recent opening of Solaire Resort North has received praise from the country's leadership. AGI is advancing its own luxury project, Boracay World Resorts, situated on the world-renowned shores of Boracay, famously known as the world’s best beach by Condé Nast Traveler.

A Visionary Portfolio and Job Creation

The ambitious portfolio also boasts the 150-hectare Boracay Newcoast township, which encompasses an 18-hole golf course, a one-kilometre private beach, and close to 2,000 hotel rooms.

“Travellers International is also constructing an integrated resort featuring villas and hotel suites,” further solidifying their commitment to enhancing the region's tourism landscape." adds Tan.

As the Philippines positions itself to become Asia’s second-largest gambling market, the development is expected to generate over 5,000 jobs, primarily benefiting residents of Lapu-Lapu City and surrounding areas.

A Legacy of Luxury and Entertainment

With Travellers International already operating Newport World Resorts, the Philippines’ first integrated resort and entertainment hub, this newest venture signals an exciting future for the region.

The Mactan World Resorts and Boracay World Resorts are poised to redefine leisure in the Philippines, creating top-tier vacation experiences while honouring the islands' serene character.

As these developments unfold, anticipation builds for a transformative era in the Visayas.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
