Pregnancy Help Center Offers Bingo for Babies

There are many good causes that use bingo as a fundraiser. The lottery is played in many parts of the world, allowing good causes to benefit. Gambling for a good cause has become quite common.

The folks at The Pregnancy Help Center of Lufkin, Texas, have caught on to the fact that if you offer a game of bingo, people will come.

Cheerleader Marley Cryer was impressed with the efforts to raise money.

Posting on Facebook, she said, “I would like to draw attention to one of the many help centers we have around here in Lufkin! The Huntington High Steppers were invited to attend a bingo night, and we (or at least I) went into it not knowing who was sponsoring the bingo tonight! And I thought it was amazing.”

The Pregnancy Help Center is a nonprofit ministry that specializes in providing services for those experiencing unexpected pregnancies. They offer pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and education for the community in English and Spanish, free of charge.

Marley praised the community spirit at the center, saying, “It is a judgment-free zone as well! I think this is such a great community and such an amazing thing that we have to offer right here in Lufkin.

"They are a nonprofit organization and help those who need it at no cost. They earn money from fundraising, just like we participated in last night with Bingo for Babies! I just want to shout out this wonderful community, their kindness, and give a shoutout to the Huntington High Steppers and everyone who volunteered to help organize tonight.”

The bingo session was held on Thursday, September 26th, at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center. All funds raised at the event will go directly to the center’s 2025 operating budget.

Executive Director Shanie Sanford said: “Everything we receive goes toward all the operations for our programs, our resources, and our resource room.”

The center is always accepting new or gently used items for their services, and monetary donations can be made online.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
